EZ-SKI single and dual fuel jug carriers... questions for all of you ..

So I have gotten a TON of requests to build an accessory for the V2 haulers . ( dual and single fuel jug holders. similar to ones in these pics.) These will be especially helpful to those of you that have SUVs, Vans etc being that you will no longer worry about fuel spills and fumes inside of the vehicle.
Question: #1 since I am not a salesman in the least .. what price-point would you guys like to see on this? ( insane amounts will be ignored) I strive to make things as a minimalist so that they can be as affordable as possible while still making it at least worthwhile to produce. ( example .. just to buy the FLY dual jug holder is somewhere around $105 and that only bolts to a trailer)

#2 I can either make these one piece fully welded ( a bit more in shipping but ready to go immediately) or I can make them 2 piece with a few bolts that the end user would need to assemble ( a little less shipping) what are your thoughts?

* Most likely will make them for the most popular square shaped jugs and they will plug directly into the rear of the v2 carrier or any hitch receiver. ( a few of my dirtbike/razor customers have requested one model that has a receiver in the rear so that they can put the jug holder in the truck receiver and then tow a trailer behind it) Thoughts?

*These will be lockable so we can ruin those fuel thieves day!
* possibly thinking about adding a flag mount/holder to the rear for alot of my beach riding customers so they can find their camp easier...Thoughts..

$100? $150?

My recommendation is make it some assemble required so shipping is cheaper. We all wrench and don't mind, no need to spend more money and make the package carriers richer.

I guess one thing I forgot to ask is do you guys feel that there is a need for this product or a want even.

Do you really need to build the whole thing or could you just build the platform that the fuel rack attaches to and let customers buy and bolt it on themselves.?.?.?

I want to make a complete product that a customer can buy and simply put in the rear of his carrier or his hitch on his vehicle and put his fuel jugs in and go. in my opinion the FLY FUEL JUG RACK THAT IS ON THE INTERNET IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET. I am going to attempt to build a minimalistic version that slides right into your hitch receiver

It would certainly be more secure and rubust if it's all one unit.

And I do agree with the build quality and price of the currently available units. I have had one in my shopping cart on countless occasions and just can't bring myself to pull the trigger.

sounds like we're a lot the same I always put stuff in the shopping cart and then can't bring myself to pay the prices that people are asking lol..

Gpod idea Chris! My question is,do you want a few gallons of gas hanging out there for a potential accident? Don't mean to be Debbie Downer. Most of the time l strap my jug in the tray

good points on the gas hanging out there but in all reality you're ski is usually full of gas as well... I will get one of these made up and get some pictures on here quick it's going to be very minimalistic just like my carriers are so it'll be simple lightweight and very usable with a price tag that should make everybody happy. I think somewhere in the $125 range is a decent deal for something that will simply slide into any hitch receiver and off you go.

Thank you for all the feedback .. its greatly appreciated .. im getting lots of texts from guys that uses trailers as well .. this will allow them to place the fuel jug carrier into the hitch and then still tow their trailer behind it which as a side benefit allows you to pull into the water much less ( with your tow vehicle) being that the trailer is now a bit more behind the vehicle. We will be working on these next week and possibly send one of you guys a prototype (to keep) so that you can give us feedback on it.

we sure can ... however this will be after we have the other 2 versions available
G1- gas can carrier ( simple dual 5 gallon fuel jug carrier that will plug into any hitch receiver.. including our V2 hitch hauler)

G2- gas can carrier (same as G1 except has a class 3 hitch receiver built into the rear for towing trailer behind)

Sounds good. I will watch for it.

Chris, what style fuel jugs are you making these to fit? Alot of the new fuel jugs have a handle on the corner of the jug instead of the side. I have a few of these newer style as well as a ton of the old VP style and it kind of sucks that I cannot secure the new style in the old racks using the slide through bar that pins in. I have made singe and double racks for all my trailers as sometimes I haul my skis with my wagon instead of my truck. I love them.

I also agree with the "bolt on method". Save on the non value added cost, shipping vs passing that along to the customers. Welding is if you need the strength , the upper part does not need any strength, its just to keep the jugs from bouncing around. Being bolt on It would also allow a 2 jug hauler to have divider bars. For instance with my fly 2 jug I typically only care 1 jug and all the weight is on the side. It would be nice to be able to center the jug in the rack

hmmmm well were were intending to make them for the most common jugs as seen in the pics below. These will be able to have the locking rod through the handles which will also serve as the front support. ( I love minimalist approaches) If you have the corner mounted handles ( dont know why the made them like this) you would still be able to use the carrier just not the locking pin.. you would need to use a ratchet strap through the handles and secured to the carrier which we would put d rings on for that purpose.

Here are a few pics of what was bent up last night.. still playing with ideas but I will absolutely be keeping it simple, functional,affordable .



Also I do not think we will put a center divider .. we may include some bolt in pieces that would attach to both side to center one jug.
