I use an AG and so far so good. What ever battery you go with seal the seams and terminals with silicone and if you can mount it above the water line.

Deka Power Sports - Made in the USA - ETZ14S sealed AGM battery. Lighter than 14 size battery but packs 210 cca's and 11.2 amp/hr inside a smaller case that of a Deka9. Avg 79.00 price range. Amps per hour are going to tell you how long battery will last on total loss.

Do you know any specific differences between the etx besides the increased a/h per pound? A little Google searching and all I can find is that they don't have solid terminals

It's considered extended life with more plates inside battery. 210 cca's vs 120 on the etx9 and they're the same size. It was recommended by a local battery shop.

I don't think that is correct. The number of plates determines the voltage and typically each plate is 2V so if you added more plates you would actually be increasing the voltage of the battery.

Maybe it's the size of the plates that determines the CCA?

Each cell is 2.1 volts, 6 cells equals 12.6 volts but each cell has a number of plates. Here's the explanation by an electrical engineer

"Increasing plate number per cell gives more output current. CCA value on the battery.

Decreasing plate number usually allows them to be thicker and therefore more resistant to wear due to deep discharge. Deep Cycle Batteries."

Good to know. I know enough about electrical to be dangerous.

Still able to find these anywhere for $79.00 or has the price shot up pretty much everywhere?

I got mine off Amazon for 79$ a couple weeks ago
Battery works so much stronger than my old etx9. Love it!
One thing to note: my battery box is molded to fit an etx9 tightly(WDK RIP) . This battery does not fit unless you grind/cut off the raised bumpers on each corner. Real easy to do with a dremel and sanding drum
