hey guys, so here is whats going on. I am thinking about moving to Florida hopefully within the next two years at least money granting the possibility. I am from PA and have heard lots of things about Florida and i am really not sure what to expect. i have not had the chance to visit the state at all and have only been as far south as north Carolina however i loved it there. i have seen the some pictures of Orlando but not an immense amount, i also have seen the pictures everyone has posted of daytona, and i have also heard some pretty good things about ft. lauderdale. As i would be just getting on my feet and beginning my life at all on my own many things come into play when it comes down to living expenses and job opportunities. even furthering what college i will complete here in pa. i was looking to possibly obtain some of your personal opinions to maybe help me figure this whole deal out. i have a 01 superjet and a 04 crf450 i am not sure if i would take both down to start off but i would bring at least one of the toys. Any and all input is welcome positive or negative.
Thanks a bunch, Searles

I live in Daytona and I don't recommend moving here if you want a good job... I recommend Orlando

Do what we did, go down in the off season rent a car and drive all over. Spend a night or two in a few of the places you are looking at and just spend the day bummin around, checking out towns and chit. Do things that you would normally do at home (not touristy crap). We spent a night in Jacksonville, Daytona, St. Augustine, and Orlando and hit every city in between...IMO it really helped us pick out which areas we could live in and which ones we would rather not.

I would recommend choosing one of the bigger cities such as Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville or Ft Lauderdale. Main reason is better jobs and cheaper living expenses. The great thing about Florida is that water is always close. If you choose Orlando area...Daytona is only 30min-1hr away depending on where. I love living in Florida and really don't ever plan on leaving (unless the polar ice caps melt I suppose I wont have a choice jk)

If you have any specific questions about Orlando feel free to ask....ive lived her just about my whole life.

If you are from the northeast, you'll hate it here.
Try California.
Better surf.
Plus, Lindsey Lohan & Paris Hilton live there so you'll have people to party with.

I'm tellin' ya, Florida is NOT the place for New Englanders (you're kinda New England, right?). They ALL hate it here.

why do they all move down there then? Seems like everyone I know up here has family somewhere in florida.

Hell our cab driver to the beach house party lived in Long beach which is 20 minutes from me. For me Florida is nice for vacation but too slow paced to live there all the time. I mean no offense to anybody by that statement but it just wouldn't work for me.

for the most part, I agree. That's why I live near a city.

some people love the slower pace.

come to the Pinellas side.... :starwars:
Pinellas should be mine. get out.

all joking a side, my family was one of the 2 initial settling families in pinellas county back in 1859. you will never meet someone more native (non-indian) that me!

While I'm at it, I'd like the bahamas back too.

Florida is great... Dont move to California unless you like some crazy taxes. The money isn't great in Forida but the cost of living is pretty cheap in some areas. I personally would live anywhere else.

Florida sure does take quite some time to get used to.
Once you do, you never want to leave.
Maybe that's why we have so many damn yankees.
