Blaster The B1 Build begins!

Hello everyone! I've been a long time lurker, have owned multiple two stoke seadoos over the years however two weeks ago I finally acquired a Wave Blaster 1 hull, pump, etc... pretty much everything but a motor. Titled though woot! (excited about that part).

Look forward to sharing my progress with everyone! Doing a full re-paint with Interlux both inside and out. I have it stripped down to nothing currently. I'll also be doing some fiberglass repair and probably reinforcing the transom before I start anything else.

Also may be in the market for a motor and mid shaft if the price and location is right! (NW USA). I'm always willing to drive.

Should be very fun! Glad to be here!

First nice weekend here in PDX that I had a free day. Finished the full tear down and sanded most of the hull. Taking everything to 220 as recommended by many for the paint I plan on using.

Found lots of damage. Don't really care as the deal on got on this was amazing. Already started rebuilding a few of the larger items with fiberglass but it got too dark to take pictures of that. Most of the damage is on the right transom edge and right side of intake.

Anyone have any recommendations on a good minor spot filler? Fiberglass is semi easy for me to repair these big corners but I've never actually done real (non poop) hull repair before and I want this to look good. There are lots of minor spots I'd love to knock out while I'm on this phase.

I have a complete running 61x out of my blaster with electrical box and a single Novi 46 carb runs perfect! I just pulled the engine out 2 days ago, I am installing a 760 I just built.

Heh, I'm across the river from ya. I don't care much about the looks of my skis but I do want them to run well. One B1 has a 760 out of a Raider, B pipe, MSD CDI, and an ADA Girdled head. My other B1 I just pulled the 61X engine and I am dropping a 62T into it with the same bolt on parts. I will be following as I do have some body repairs I should make at some point.
Joe...........

Thanks! I've been working on the bottom hull repairs in my spare time this summer and I've been documenting it as I go! I had initially planned on doing an 1100 swap but I'm not commited to it yet. You in the market to sell the 61X? Might be interested later this summer (I'm getting married in a week so I'm not exactly full of free time hah). Let me know!

Alllllrighty! It's been an exciting winter. I don't have a ton of progress pics to show other than my Frankenstein Ebay 1100 Build!

It's been completely sourced now!
$200 detonated block and crank 1100 locally here in Portland
$94 new old cylinders/pistons and top end, usable. (thanks ebay)
$50 3x used flame arrestors and adapters
$79 new piston arm and wrist bearing set
$95 New gasket set.

Edit: this block ended up being too detonated and I just sourced a full motor from a WaveRaider that’s hull snapped! Wooo

In total I'm looking very good at the moment for my motor build cost, and now I'm looking at different options for motor mounts. My first inclination is to go with http://www.extreemthrottleinc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ex-conv because I believe my 64 midshaft will work for the set back configuration?

Does anyone have any suggestions! I moved houses this summer and had to put the hull work on hold but I'm getting back into it at the end of this month and can't wait to update again!

Thanks for any advice on mounts!

If you seeking low budget you can replicate/build your own kit for super cheap. Buddy did this swap in a weekend. Full throttle has custom lowered mounts made by rhaas but you can use stock mounts that are 3/4 lower and get them to fit. Get some high-grade aluminum to make the plates and play with mounts until you get the desired height. He's still playing with prop pitch since he kept the 144 pump.

Thanks! I actually have a spare 15/20 prop I'm hoping will work well in my 144, feels like a LONG ways away from testing a pump for me! Thanks for the input! I'll have to look around for those 3/4 mounts.

Before and after on hull repairs. Sprayed with HVLP gun and brightside poly. Tops going to be black. Have motor mounts, exhaust and motor runs just in time for summer to be over. Hoping to drop it all in this weekend and will take some engine compartment pics!
