Full Bore online pwc jetski engine rebuild service - crankshaft, cylinder boring

Last fall I shipped my Superjet pwc engine to Full Bore online for their “platinum” rebuild (crank and cylinders). I wanted to share my experience for the benefit of other prospective customers.
  • I gave Full Bore a $500 deposit in October. They agreed to an April completion date. They failed to deliver, then strung me along until June with several more fictional completion dates.
  • Full Bore doesn’t answer their phone, but initially they were quick to return calls, Once they had my deposit, responsiveness dropped off dramatically. Full Bore doesn’t give regular status updates--you have to ask via email--and generally it took days/weeks for a response.
  • The reason for sending Full Bore my engine in the fall was so that it would be done before the next summer (duh), but in June it was still just sitting untouched in their shop. To rectify this problem Full Bore offered to ship my engine back with no work completed--at my expense. This would cost another $75 on top of the $115 I already spent to ship the engine to them in the first place.
  • To avoid simply flushing $190 down the drain, I asked Full Bore to at least rebuild the cylinders/top-end before returning my engine. They agreed. So 8 months after getting my deposit Full Bore completed half the job they originally promised, 2 months late. The added cost of shipping the entire engine including crank and bottom end vs just the cylinders was a waste. But at least I got my engine back for the summer.
I asked Full Bore for a partial refund of my $500. They declined and gave this justification: “they put their customers first and did so in this case by doing satisfactory work at a discount.” This, they told me, was “more than fair ”.

Full Bore has their own website--they didn’t sell to me via a service like eBay or Amazon. Those services offer some added protections for the buyer, which in hindsight could have been good to have.

Full Bore’s online website says they warranty their work, but I would be reluctant to ship them my engine again for any reason--when would they get around to actually doing the work?

They were pretty good a few years back and a lot of the Seadoo Forum guys used them with good results.
But....... your experience is the norm the last year or so and nobody is recommending them anymore.
Stay away from FullBore and SES isn't any better.
