PRODUCT REVIEW

PRODCUT : 701 Straps

BRAND : 701 Industries

REVIEW : I purchased these straps April 15th, 2015. I absolutely loved the straps. They looked awesome and were the perfect lengths for my gas tank limited slip gas tank. However, after one year they are now all stretched and no longer hold tension. Without any effort I can remove them from the hooks and they do not return to original length. Measuring all of the straps, the stretched to the following lengths:

2 – 13” straps now have a rested length of 15”
2 – 13” straps now have a rested length of 14”
1 – 11” strap now has a rested length of 12.5”
1 – 7” strap now has a rested length of 8”

For how pumped I was about the straps, I have become disappointed and frustrated that they only lasted one season. I have contacted 701 industries about this issue and essentially gotten no where. I would not reccommend these to anyone! Please just measure your strap lengths and drop Jetmaniac PM to see if he has some straps that will work.

Standard urethane loses modulus of elasticity with heat. Unless 701 specified a high-quality and very specific type of urethane, all urethane straps will fail in time regardless of the manufacturer. If they're made in China then one can almost guarantee that the cheapest cast urethane was used.

Rubber straps are still the best, and OEM Yamaha or Kawasaki wherever possible.

Man that's a bummer to hear. I have had zero problems with mine so far.

just tie a knot in them

I did that to one of the straps; however, do to the thickness of the straps when you tie a knot in them they get drastically shorter (not like OEM). Plus when you spend $140 on straps you don't really want to tie knots in them.

I'll try and snap some pictures tonight of them permanently stretched.

Totally agree! I ordered mine to specific lengths so they wouldn't need knots.

Ill have to agree with you there. I thought about getting some of them but I thought the quality looked a bit cheap from the pictures so the review is appreciated

I have them, i noticed they do stretch, but weirdly they hold the same as when short. it's seems more like they set to a length or something. So suggest dont over stretch them.

Ive had same problem, the ones on my tank have stretched but still usable just.

The ones on my water box were really tight and now slack so no use at all.

I've had the waterbox straps for 5 months now and they have stretched enough that I had to knot them, as for tank straps I ordered and paid for them at the same time and still Haven't received them and have given up on trying to contact 701ind.

I contacted Dave through email ( I actually don't have a Facebook account) a few times over the last few months and he has always responded and apologized and said he'd get them shipped out that day but I still Haven't received them. My last email a couple weeks ago I asked for a tracking number and told him my address again but got no response
