98' RN Restoration

Hey guys, got a 98' RN to restore and slowly build up. Will be working on it and posting pics as I get stuff done. It's probably nothing new but its my first time doing this so I thought it would be cool to post up a thread. Hopefully ill get it done pretty quick but with school an' all i'll be pretty busy. Anyways heres what I've got!

So far I have stripped the turf and tomorrow will hopefully be sanding and getting the small pieces of leftover turf off. Heres some pics!

I had a RN with a color somewhere between the first two, white bottom deck, it looked really good with tan turf.

My Fx1 is close to the second one. I'm partial to that blue. Also I know it wasn't up for discussion. It I like the looks of a black bottom deck more ;) just my two cents. Good choice on the black turf. I regret using two tone. Following this thread. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

That is a nice color. Im definitely thinking some type of blue now. And After seeing that pic, I agree, black bottom does look pretty slick. Im up for all the ideas I can get too.
Thanks for the input. Im pretty stoked to get this project really rolling. Now I'm thinking about shortening 3-4", rockering, and widening tray lol. Cant hurt right? ;)

I used appliance epoxy on the bottom so that it is super easy to touch up when it gets scratched. At 6 bucks a can it makes for a cheap option on the bottom especially since it's almost never seen.

I painted my ski. I bought single stage (happened to be black) and it was $55cdn, for an additional 20 I bought prism clear. Just go with single stage and paint it HVLP. Just make sure you do your prep work and it'll stay on.

Here's some photos, but pictures just don't do justice!

Cool thanks. It does look good. @Graham Buchan

It's not rockered, just removed the front bond rail and filled the step in, I wouldn't do that again. The wide tray was awesome though, and the -4" bottom deck, I highly recommend that.

Ahh ok I see. Definitely thinking about doing the -4 bottom. As far as the wide tray goes, i dont know how much wider I can go because I have footholds. Need to do a couple forum searches on that. By the way is that single stage or base/clear? Really like the looks of it. @yamanube

Heres some updated pictures. Left side rough sanded, still need to sand finer. The carbon that the footholds were installed with is delaminating, got to reinforce and install them the right way now. Also looks like I'm doing a hood liner too. Hood is cracked. As far as getting the paint off the hood, I'm thinking I can just pressure wash it off lol.
Still gotta get all the glue from the turf off too....what a pain. Gonna hopefully get a lot done this weekend. Need to place a U.S. composites order, then I can really get rolling. Anyways heres some pics!

Krylon rattle can, no clear, easy touchup. It was a 5-10 foot paint job but it still looks pretty good 5 years later.

Got quite a bit of sanding and prep done today. Placed my US composites order yesterday, can't wait till this part is done and I get to start the glass work.
The deeper I get into this the more of a basket case it becomes. There are cracks all over the place. Gonna reinforce the side walls and sand down the crappy job someone else did.

Pole bracket area prepped for some glass. Gonna fill in those outer holes and the stock breather hole.

Crack on rear. Good thing I'm shortening it!
