ATS 66E exhaust adapter plate

I promised this a couple months ago for a B-pipe, but we ran into some snags, namely the B-pipe mod and limited SJ chambers hit the bendix/starter bulge on the 66E cases. I think this might be solved by going to a Blaster or TNT chamber though.

In the mean time I got a good deal on a couple of beat up dry pipes.

The biggest problems with the adapter are three fold:

1. the exhaust port spacing is much wider on the 66E.
2. coolant passages (solved with dry pipe manifold)
3. bolts overlap each other (we used through bolts on the top outside holes to sandwich the adapter between the manifold and cylinders.)

We have 2 and 3 pretty much solved with our adapter plate. #1 we are still working on. right now we have a hand built "proof of concept" that shows 1) that it fits and 2) that it should clear the power valves with only minor denting if any.

The remaining issue is the port spacing. The dry pipe manifolds are a good solution because they don't have coolant jackets on the outsides, just on the top and bottom, so you can do considerable grinding to the exhaust ports on the manifold to get better flow.

I am tempted to make a stuffer plate on the adapter that sticks out into the exhaust manifold that will block off some of the empty unnecessary part of the 61X/62T manifold. these will have to be ground for a perfect fit by the end user. Think of it as a reed stuffer for your exhaust to help the transition.

You can see that because the 66E is a longer motor the exhaust is shifted forward. We will need to shorten the stinger a little bit to allow it to attach to the stock water box. Of course the biggest advantage of this to me is STOCK EXHAUST TANK!! Finally a 66E with some range.

Our goal was a bolt on solution, but we failed at that. Now it's a bolt on solution that required a die grinder and maybe a hack saw to modify the exhaust manifold top outside holes (or you can send us your manifold) and shorten the stinger.

Pics of what we have so far:

Saweet, when will they be for sale? Got any pics of the adapter plate/exhaustport/manifold mismatch?

looks good.
won't clear gas power valves though?
can the same manifold be used with the baxter pipe?i know it means small tank but oh well.

I ran into the b-pipe manifold problem too, that's why I made my own. by the time you get an adapter plate to make a decent transition it'll be so wide that the head pipe will be outside the hull.

with some grinding to the motor and a little dent to the chamber the mod pipe will fit but the limited is too long because this motor shifts the exhaust forward.

It looks like you guys are on the right path though.

Have you guys tried the dry pipe out yet? I would like to try a Type 4 or 9 on my 800.

i tried to call WDK with no answer.. I really dont have any faith in them. I would like to know what you think about a gp760 drypipe with your adapter for a blaster at least?
