Do jet skis have a rev limiter?

I was out riding one of the skis I just bought. When you hold it wide open it sounds liking it is bouncing off a rev limiter. It pulls hard on the bottom and seems to fall off on the top. It feels like it displaced way more water than my stock 01 SJ. It's a 95 with a 701 it has a Riva pipe and aftermarket intake grate/ride plate/impellers. Any ideas?

It should have a rev limiter but you didn't build it so who knows. You might be under propped and hitting that limit.

Yes, a stock 95 SJ has a rev limiter. It is however possible modify your CDI to eliminate the rev limiter.

It does have a SBT motor in it. Other than that I think it is stock. Has a single carb. Are props marked so you can see what it is from the bottom? Any recommendations on props? Thanks for the help..

Is there any way to tell what pitch the impeller is while its in the ski? I took some pics. I don't see any markings..
