300/440/550 dual 38's f/ 440 to 550

Local guy on the boards installed dual 38's on a 550 from a 440 machine. Says runs wide open then dies when he gives it gas. I'm thinking leaning out due to additional displacement. Anybody have some ideas???????????

Wasn't sure if you found problem yet, sounds like air leak, check the manifold area for that new set-up, were you able to use "new" gaskets when assembling? Also check throttle plate(butterfly) inside carbs to make sure they are "both" closing w/throttle off. HTH, T.

yeah i am the owner of the bike... revs when i hit the start...give it throttle and it dies.....

have new gaskets to try havent had time to install em.... was new gaskets on there...
carbs have set screws instead of jets... when i richen it up it helps.....so i believe it is also an air leak....i just hope it is the manifold and not the crank case...just had the motor bored and head shaved....full exhaust and other goodies...

ok so i replaced all the gaskets ....made my own.... i believe my running away problem is fixed....

battery started getting low from cranking...got it running decent on land...
cranking in the water battery got low and it melted all the lead off the positive post on the battery..lol wtf....has anyone seen this?

does anyone know of a drycell replacement for this thing....????
getting aggrevated lol
