Gains from dual carb conversion on 61x case?

I have done it, its very hard to tune. It does not do anything but make your ski run like crap, not worth the headache just buy a 62t case.

I ran dual mikuni retail 44's on a bcw mani with a jetworks ported 61x cased 701. It hit identical to my roommates jetworks 62t cased 701 with arts mod 38's. Arts jet and tuning specs were spot on.

A close buddy of mine did this. He had a tough time getting it dialed in but eventually got it. His boat was a dry pipe, 760 bore, water injection, etc. he said he noticed a little more hit out of the corner but nothing crazy. Especially for how much time he spent on it.

I have run dual 44s for years with an r and d manifold on my 61x. Ported it this year and know nothing about tuning. It run great. Biggest difference between it and my single carb setup is it pulls up top harder.

I ran modded 38s on a 61x with protec manifold, combined those with ADA head and fp type 9 drypipe and the ski ran like a monster, really didn't change the tuning much from factory pipes recommendation for the pipe

Hello, I write to you from Spain, forgive my English, it turns out that I have a 61x engine in a zodiac projet and I want to couple two carburetors of 44, many people have told me that it is not possible, that it does not admit them and that they should be 38 Could you get in touch with me and tell me how I do it? I will be eternally grateful. My email is originalwess78@gmail.com

You will not gain any performance by going to dual carbs especially in your zodiac conversion. Just stick with the one simple carb.

I have not done it but I have done a little carb tuning in my time. I would expect a little more hit and a little bit more at the top( not much)
The issue i see is the reeds on a 61x are quite small and you would quickly hit the limit of the reeds abilty.

For a 61X setup, the best all around intake is from the old Wet Jet (gold motor). Designed by Bob Santos (Westcoast). It has like built in stuffers to help reduce the crankcase volume. It also came fitted with a 46mm carb. But with a 44mm on top, it would be a little easier to tune out those flat spots. Dual carbs on a 61X would be for a advanced tuner that wants to fiddle with stuff (can O worms).

Back in the early mod days before the 62t came out, we used to band saw the reed section off the X case and weld on the reed section from a K750. Did all that work because the X case would not flow efficently with duel carbs on a ported cyl. So for Duels, definately recomend the T case. However, like Flash mentioned, the WetJet intake on an X case runs very good! I have built several running single 49 Full Spec carbs on a 735 mod cyl with Great success.
If your heart is intent on the X case? Then may I suggest larger bore single carbs as your platform.

As an alternate suggestion, you are running this in an inflatable ? So rather drive yourself crazy with duel carbs?
Why dont you just transplant in a good used 760 and call it a day? More than enough torque to push your inflatable will several passangers aboard!
