How are they doing this with a 701?

Is it because they have a carbon hull? Or do they secretly have a ported/big bore/stroker in there and just claiming that it’s a stock 701?

Hull design helps a ton, still need the skill tho. Big motors make flipping look easy. I've seen lots done on small motors by good rider tho.

Pretty sure I've seen videos of glass hulls. Your talking about a 15-30lb weight difference depending on hull.
Dont forget what the rider weights :)

Once you have your setup wake technique and timing dialed in, trim, commitment a well tuned 701 is enough. Just takes a lot of time to really master your setup with smaller motors especially when you've never flipped a ski before.

Like Quinc said, first is skill and then hull design. With small power the lighter the hull the better, obviously. It ultimately comes down to the hull design though.

84lb hull, LPW 760, b pipe, enhancer, stock pump, stock carbs, etc.

I’ve flipped my mates glass old shape XFS with a 701 in.

Was setup to perfection tho and had to have the wake setup and pre burst perfect but can be done.

Took me an riding an 1100 for a while to learn to flip first tho

Rosey, do you have trim on that ski?

the big guy on the rokr is the Albany motorsports guy and he can ride. jack Sutton on the bob can also ride and has been flipping gutless junk most of his life. that bob was ported to the moon and the rokr is about as short a boat as it gets. some hulls make bigger setup wakes than others too, which makes a huge difference. rickters make nice big setup wakes.

Waiting on the vid of a stock SJ doing it. Not holding my breath though. Hell, I'll even take a 701 SJ w/pipe, head and all the usual goodies pulling it off.
