Looks like i'm out for Daytona dammit!

Been having an issue with my left shoulder for a few years now.Always sore after riding but would go away after a few days.Working out didn't help it,but was aware and avoided working my shoulders too much. Then about a month ago l fell backward weed eating, onto a board sticking up about a foot on our raised gardening beds.Landed elbow first on the edge of the board.Dam that just @#$%&* hurt! i also took out a eggplant in the process.Wife was upset about that-WTF! (what about my elbow woman!)

So long story short l get rotator cuff surgery on the Dec 29th.lnsurance was starting new Jan 1 with a $3000 deductible,l had to go for it.My arm will be in a sling for 6 weeks:mad: and looking forward to PT,that should be a blast

l hate it,but it is also a slow time of year for my business. So at least that will work out.

Hope everyone has a blast! l'm gonna miss seeing a bunch of you all l only get to see at Daytona.Everyone be safe and l'll see you all next year

Sucks man I have something going in the shoulder too....separated AC....ever since my first Daytona nose in on to that *&^$%*&^%@ "sand".

It has not gotten worse in all these years but I went from perfect to this and it has never healed.

Lol, that's what I was thinking. Can't do chit with your arm in a sling anyways, isn't that the perfect time to take off to Daytona?

There's more than enough of us to help tote your gear for you.

FYI, Scott convinced me to go if that helps. :)

I hear you on the shoulder issue. I've been dealing with it for years. Ofcourse navy medical (active Marine) takes their time and still hasn't found anything wrong. Same issue but mine comes and goes. Sometimes I can ride and be fine, other times severe pain afterwards.

I hurt my shoulder from doing yard work(weed whacking, leaf blowing, raking leaves, etc), and going duck hunting one day back in October 2015. It took a whole year for the pain to go away, and another year to have full motion of my shoulder. Luckily it didn't really affect my Jet Skiing, only moving things that were heavy or far away from my body seemed to exploit it. Take your time with that one. I'm 33 and fear getting "old".

...I can't wait for Daytona. It's been -10 here and no snow.

My father in law had the rotator cuff surgery almost 3 years ago now. He waited too long and they had very little undamaged material to work with so he is restricted to 25lbs or less with that arm.

He still does daily full range stretches or it starts to immobilize the joint and he has break through the scar tissue yet again.

He had hip replacement surgery the following year after he fell on father’s day and so he’s got a few aches and pains to deal with at the same time.

We never really know how much pain he is actually in though. I’ll take him to the auto wrecker and he’ll push around a wheel barrow full of tools and parts for hours in the summer heat and claim to be fine but yet he complains if he has to stand around for 5 minutes for anything that doesn’t involve car parts or food.

We just offered them an all expenses paid trip to the West coast of Canada for a visit with my parents this summer and some fishing and he wanted no part of it. Meanwhile he was planning a trip to Florida to attend the Turkey Rod Run and had no issue sitting in a vehicle for that trip or the 3 days of walking around in concrete.

Find a rolfer and if your shoulder doesn't feel better after two sessions find another one. I went from not being able to lift my arm over my head for months. Tried cortisone shots, mri, doctor wanted to "open me up to the find the issue", seeing other "specialist", acupressure, and massage; to benching 405 for reps again after 1 session with the rolfer. Crazy thing was my shoulder was fine, it was my back muscles that where causing my shoulder pain.

Waiting too long is exactly what my doc was telling me.The MRI showed l had a small tear from a few years ago,but the largest part was a fresh tear.lf l don't get it done now, then l can look for more pain and issues as l get older. And l'm not ready to "sit on the porch" yet either.
