Crazy!

I left Canada in the fall of 2008 and my last tank of fuel cost me $114. I crossed over the border and the same tank cost me $38.

I had originally planned to drive the uhaul as far as I could on the Canadian side before I crossed over but the fuel situation made me reconsider. 3800 miles is a considerable expense at 6mpg. Little did i know about toll roads....

Over the years I have had a few offers to move back to Canada and it makes me sick too. Most costs would be increased by 200-300% while my income only 30-40%. How the frack does that equate?

It's like this. If you need to commute, drive a golf or a civic. Save your truck and your money for hauling on the weekends.
^^ That's exactly what I do.

I lived in the US for 2 years and when I left Canada I paid $650/month in insurance. When I switched my policies to the US (same company, same policies) my payment dropped to $160/month. Crazy.

Lol. I have Canadian friends who boast about their so called free health care but by looking at all of your outrageous taxes you guys are posting I can see how that health care is getting paid for lol.

No argument there! Canada is considered to be I believe in the top 5 most expense places to live worldwide...and not saying that in a tone to be proud of lol. It makes no sense to me why our country is so expensive to live in and yet I just recently heard the province of Ontario is something like 30 billion in the hole?! Where is all this tax money going anyway? Oh wait I know...no, no, I don't lol.

For a bit there I thought it would stay under $100 per tank on my truck, since the carbon tax im now at $137. May need to look into a cheap 4 cylinder car. Wish me luck finding one that I fit in...

What exactly does the carbon tax do? Do they use it for like.. carbon free energy stuff or is it a pure profit tax of bullsh1t?

they say its to support carbon reduction, but they are just sending it to quebec and california to purchase carbon credits. Businesses have to bid on credits based on how much they produce pollution. its all a money grab.

Yep, they call it a cap n' trade system. They cap how much a province can produce, to be allowed to produce more that province has to look into other provinces or countries that are producing less than the established cap and swing deals to trade whatever for their unused allowances. It's exactly what CRJ said...just a money grab. They expect everyone to accept it but they won't go into details in ways the general public can understand to explain it. Nobody I know is aware of what the cap limit is, where these numbers come from or how they come to determine those numbers. It's all another revised version of the rabbit in the hat. Hey CRJ...remember when they were supposed to scrap the driveclean emissions testing? lol...yeah, me either! Haaahahahahahah!!!! It was a farce to get us used to paying for a bogus certification to keep our vehicles on the road. They said it is only temporary, it was meant to get the old "carbureted gas guzzlers" off the road. Man were we ever had over that one lol.

Funny thought, my buddy's old carbureted '84 Mustang would get twice the fuel economy of his '86 fuel injected..."advanced technology to get rid of the gas guzzlers"! We were just talking about it last night lol. Same with my old truck, 1990 Ford F150 with a 302 5.0L v8...68 liter tank and went for about 469kms on a full tank. My last F150...2003 with a 5.4L and 120L tank...350kms on a full tank under premium driving conditions. I went to Crystal Beach once with that truck and my round trip fuel cost was almost a grand. Pretty sad for "advanced technology" to consume 7 tanks of fuel in about 1200 kms lol. Needless to say, that truck is long gone. It lasted 3 years in my possession and that was enough. The carbon tax people would love that truck, they would make a killing off it lol.

Yeah, I never understood that either. My 04 Cummins got horrible mileage compared to my Dad's 93. Sure it burns a little cleaner but if it burns almost twice as much, can we really consider that a win?

Beats me where they come up with this guff. They try to scare people into this whole global warming nonsense and blame it on more vehicles on the road but they allow and probably force the manufacturers to make them worse on fuel economy. I'm with you 100% OCD...where is the progress in producing something that is electronically controlled and monitored when it requires 50% more to power it? It's a totally redundant statement...make new tech to save the planet, but make that tech consume 10x more raw materials and produce 10x more pollution...in the effort to reduce pollution and "global warming" lol. I think they forgot to have a look into the earth's axis when making that pollution based global warming statement. Ask anyone in Alaska, Alberta, the Territories, they will all tell you the sun has been setting in a different location each decade. The last time I heard this was about 6 years ago. It was a little known documentary and I've only ever heard it that one time. The sun was setting at some ridiculously far off distance further northwest beyond the horizon line landmarks the natives used as seasonal indicators and the like. And it makes proper sense, tilt the earth so the biggest exposure of land and water masses get more sunlight, they will collect and retain more heat for longer, therefore increasing the heat across the globe. It's amazing how they overlook and probably with intent the writing on the wall just to scare people into paying them more money. "We're the government, we have all the answers and by forcing you to give us all your money, we will...ummm...make sure you do" lol. The science behind the pollution/global numbers are so skewed and contradictory to each scientists findings that it's nearly impossible to know who is telling the truth anymore.

Anytime global warming comes up I like to bring up the Global Cooling scare that happened back in the 70's.

Somebody was nice enough to summarize the debacle into a very well documented website for reference.
http://www.populartechnology.net/2013/02/the-1970s-global-cooling-alarmism.html

It's a great read and further proof that we truly have learned very little from our past. Humans are but dust on this globe and our arrogance is astounding, only to be surpassed by our efforts to gain superiority over our fellow man. We manipulate everything for our own gain, even the weather.

Nailed it!

There is a very poplar, and very old book out there filled with only the best principals, morals, and salt of the earth sage-like advice to live long and prosper...I won't go into details but I will quote one portion of one sentence from it which you just said OCD with perfect accuracy...
"man has dominated man to his harm"
Nuff said.

I get a kick out of watching futuristic shows like Star Trek (ie: Voyager, Enterprise or Deep Space 9). To me, the most unrealistic aspect of all those shows is not the technology they have but the fact that man ever put aside his pettiness enough to achieve such wonders.
