Squalling and Loose Parts

So after riding a couple weeks ago, we went to brap the water out of the 750 and when it started we heard an AWEFUL squalling metal on metal sound. I pulled the pump last night and this is what I found. The nose cone on the impeller seems to have dislodged itself from the impeller. I’ve been studying and have a new Hooker 9/15 and Jetmaniac pump and mid rebuilds. After pulling the pump the bearings feel fine. The goal is to have this ski back to be rideable by my 30th birthday on June 16th. We have 4 skis now and my goal was to have a birthday party at the lake. We rented a lake house with a private dock! Anyways I’m thinking that I can get a new driveshaft and then how else can I get this back working? I’m thinking of saving the rebuilds and impeller for when we paint the ski this winter. Please let me know the easiest fix for this for the time being, as I have the parts to overhaul the entire driveline later. So what should I do? Thanks!

assuming that is the solas billet nose thingy, they fail. I always run the rubber version and glue it in. The billet version’s oring is not sufficient to hold it in. Looks cool, ends there.

Awesome thanks for the reply, I have never had this pump out so that must have been a PO thing. So assuming the bearings are all okay for the time being, I should be able to replace the driveshaft and install a proper rubber nose bushing?

I was thinking it might be okay but now I’m also thinking, how could the bushing have made that squalling sound? Wouldn’t it have been just turning with the driveshaft and not made any noise?

From the castoff on the pump tunnel you can see where it was. I assume you have a top loader intake grate and it was rubbing on the fin making all the noise and grinding itself per the wear marks on the blue anodizing.
