This show was right up my alley. We needed another superhero subversion show like Umbrella Academy or Watchmen. Difference is these "Heroes" are literally owned by corporate america. Think if the marvel franchise was real and superheroes were contracted by Disney to fight crime and keep appearances (Think acting contracts in the 30s where they tell you who to date and what to wear).

For parents with older teenage kids wanting to know if its appropriate. Its not as dark as a lot of the Netflix offerings lately that is for sure. Gore, lots of it and over the top. Cursing same. Nudity, only bit I can remember is a swinging johnson that actually fit with the story (Invisible man) but probably more that I dont remember. Some weird sex stuff with a stretchy dude with questionable morals. Lots of eluding to but actual nudity was lower than some streaming shows lately. It eluded to sexual assault but is handled well imo without going to far like a lot of shows lately.

It does have nudity, sexual content, cursing, gore, and lots and lots of cursing. Not saying its right for you or your older teens just letting you know what sort of content is in it.

Good stuff imo.

Edited for additional notes

Weird. I read a parents review and it listed flying gay group sex and a ton of other things that were just as unbelievable.

You are right, let me edit that part of my take on it. It did have some weird stuff like that.

Let me add that I am viewing it from a secular perspective and more traditional folks will be horrified by it.

Also, Anthony Star who plays Homelander played the main character in Banshee on Cinemax. It was a real fun show in my opinion and he plays a totally different sort of character in it.

Amish Mafia.... That alone should get some of you interested lol...

Netflix and Amazon have a ton of original content these days. They are all too new though so you can binge a whole season in a couple days and then get hung up waiting to see if they are even going to do another season.

I use PlayOn to record the entire series to my Plex Server.

I tried “The Widow” but couldn’t get into it.

I have the first season of “Another Life” and “The Umbrella Academy” too but haven’t watched any of either yet.

Waiting for the next season of “Lost in Space”, “Mars” and “Colony”.

Recorded but couldn’t get into, “IO”, “Stranger Things”, “The Shannara Chronicles”, A Series of Unfortunate Events”, The Magicians”, “The Rain”, and “Travellers”.

Another life was a solid b scifi but lacked originality. Katie Sackoff and whoever plays the AI carried the acting in my opinion. After a few episodes it picks up steam.

IMO best shows on Netflix are Narco's season 1 and 2. and the OJ Simpson series they did. If you have HBO check out Carnival, True detective and Westworld.

Edit: If you have young kids watch the cartoon Hilda on netflix.

I am working from home this week and put on Another Life as background noise.

I am up to episode 8 already and needless to say, got almost nothing accomplished for work, lol.

I finished up "Another Life" this morning and am 5 episodes deep into "The Umbrella Academy". So far I'm liking all the suggested shows.

Altered Carbon is also really good if you are a scifi geek. Very adult and lots of nudity, gore, etc. Bodies are sleeves, like a car you can trade in, and your consciousness can be transferred between them. Great premise in my opinion.
