Tubbies

Looking for riders opinions or reviews on Tubbies on there ski. What you like about them carving, stability any performance gains and or draw backs. I have them and I am still fine tuning this ski I am not sure I like them. Also other than the Tubbies what ride plate and scoop grate are you using. I have a stock ride plate and aftermarket scoop grate.

Yes still fine tuning it to my liking and at the moment swapping out the starter not a fun job it’s out but so is a lot of other parts lol

I have Tom21 sponsons on my fx1. Protec intake grate and DG QuadraFin rideplate. It really handles quite well in my opinion from a stock FX or even a SJ. I have a 140 pump in mine along with a Tuned and ported 735cc . My sponsons are approx. 2mm above flush with the bottom chine. They are all the way forward to where the sponson sweeps up and joins the OE front rocker. I have very minimal spray when riding and it'll still lay over under power. It'll also break loose if a chop the throttle and throw it into a powerslide. Harder to do compared to a stock fx1 as mine sticks pretty good with the DG plate.

Thanks that was good review these tubbies are bigger than yours I think I am having a little trouble with my ski it doesn’t want to stay planted at full throttle But then again my old FX1 had an extended ride plate. This one get squirrely but I manage it

VXSXH20: Would you mind posting up some pictures of your ski and the tubby placement when you get a chance?

TURBO JET: Thank you for this thread.

BTW, I got a chance to ride with fx1Dave (aka @wavewarrior ) this last Saturday. A stock FX-1 with pipe and shaved head and a different impeller. No tubby's. No rear sponsons. Leg drags at WOT speed. Right angle turns both directions at WOT speed. The guy rides his FX-1 like a pro soccer player changes direction while running up field dodging opponents. He never fell once.

Sacramento area riders: If you ever get a chance to ride with Dave, do it! Dave is a humble guy with a very gentle spirit who rips aggressively with his ski. He helped me allot with my approach to riding. A true Buddha of jet skiing.

Hey that ski looks familiar!! Yes those are tom21 sponsons. No brainer for the fx1 perfect fit and made a huge difference in the handling.

Only thing that ski needs it’s an extended ride plate.
Hahahaha the ski is great I am trying to keep the nose down and yes a ride plate would cure that trying to one thing at a time. What made you use the Tom 21 over the Blowsion don’t get me wrong I love It just rode mine for years without them and never felt the need for them
Thanks I am replacing the starter the old one is out and just waiting for the new one in the mail.

Makes the ski way more stable. Can carve harder. The Tom 21 rubies are made specifically for the fx1. By far the best fit and performance for that ski. And the fit and finish is top notch.
