Surfriding Whitca's 2015 Krash Predator build

***2019 UPDATE***

This season started out with a bang...literally. Lower rod bearing failed in April, snapping the rod and grenading the cases and one sleeve. Fortunately the cylinder casting was untouched so it's not a complete loss. The downtime means a little freshen up is in order and a freshen up means time to update this build thread...which has turned more into a motor rebuild thread every couple of seasons. The predator got a fresh steering cable in April before the freeride demo where the engine popped. While I wait for the crank and cases I'll be replacing pump and midshaft bearings/seals. Shaft splines are still mint. Other than changing out some random hardware and cleaning there's not much to add currently. This winter the boat will be getting some body work to fix the chips and scratches and then finished off with a new wrap/turf. Until then bring on the pics:

Pump and mid aligned and installed. Carbs cleaned and freshened up. Waiting on engine parts to try and marathon build this before heading to the coast for the weekend. I have been experimenting going back and forth between couch mounts and rhaas mounts which has resulted in a couple failed couch mounts.

I can't figure out why the pictures keep posting sideways, I've rotated and saved and it seems to be something with the upload. Drilled a pulse fitting and assembled the engine last night. Leakdown tested today and it passed. Hope to have it installed and fired tonight so I can water test tomorrow and head to the coast.

Nevermind the gold cylinder, heating it to remove/install a sleeve discolored it. I plan to paint it this winter while the boat is apart for a new wrap.

Ski went together pretty quick, I didn't bother with a bunch of pics as I was under a time crunch to get it fired and loaded up to drive 6 hours to ride surf. Our riding group puts on freeride demos for a coastal vacation community so it was a mad dash to get everything buttoned up before it was show time. Break in went smooth and it took no time at all to get 20+ gallons through the fresh 900R in a weekend.

Sorry most of the pics are loading sideways. Here's a few from the meet & greet at Seabrook, WA. They shut down an intersection in town and had a block party with live music which was pretty cool.

Still working to narrow down a pesky vibration that shows up on deceleration. Changed out a driveline damper, re-torqued engine hardware and dialing in pop-off along with some other little maintenance items.
