I have 6 windows Toshiba laptops.Below are the things needed to be done one on each laptops.

1 Format Hard Drive
2 Microsoft Office Package
3 AVG Virus Software (Free Lifetime Updates)
4 Adobe Acrobat
5 Laptop Cleaning of the keyboard, screen and other case.
6 Diagnostics of the entire system after to check hard, cdrom, floppy, etc.

Get back to me with your total cost for the services of 6 units.

1 Format Hard Drive?................ Only? Or do you mean format, reload, tweak and secure? With data recovery or no data recovery.

2 Microsoft Office Package?................. Just simply load Office on 1 machine?

3 AVG Virus Software (Free Lifetime Updates)? Load it on 1 or all 6?............... I only use AVG on old Windows XP machines.

4 Adobe Acrobat?................ Load it on 1 or all 6?

5 Laptop Cleaning of the keyboard, screen and other case. This a standard and included service from me!

6 Diagnostics of the entire system after to check hard, cdrom, floppy, etc. This is also a standard service from me.

Very roughly I would predict you would be in the $600 range...a lot of it has to do with the data recovery if any...

You should be at 100 per machine....up to 185 per machine if any data recovery is required..

About as close as I can get to a total cost is $600.00. My prices are all on my site at edgewaterpc.com.

At best you may hit $85.00 on some or all of the machines if they give me zero zero issues.

Dont ski (major ACL tear) but I did get this scam. The emails are word for word exactly the same. The last email confirmed my suspicions of it being a scam.

Couple people I know including my work have gotten phone calls from "tech support" demanding they get access to a server right away. Even told the lady at my work she was going to get fired if she did not provide access right away..

My dad had gotten a virus over the summer and I took care of it for him. A week or so later we got a call. The guy said he was from Microsoft and had received a report that we needed computer help and demanded a remote assistance right away to help solve our problem. But he had nothing to prove he was from Microsoft....

My mom got that same call.

Another fun one, two people in our office got hit with Cryptolocker..

"CryptoLocker propagated via infected email attachments, and via an existing botnet; when activated, the malware encrypts certain types of files stored on local and mounted network drives using RSA public-key cryptography, with the private key stored only on the malware's control servers. The malware then displays a message which offers to decrypt the data if a payment (through either Bitcoin or a pre-paid cash voucher) is made by a stated deadline, and threatened to delete the private key if the deadline passes. If the deadline is not met, the malware offered to decrypt data via an online service provided by the malware's operators, for a significantly higher price in Bitcoin."
