650/X-2 X2 project 701 ?

Yes 3 bolt manifolds that are cocked more than a stock ×2 or 650 manifold will cause interference.

You can use AM manifolds but they have to have the same pattern as a stock one..

Ok so I'm trying to understand how a 701 motor will fit into an X2 hull using Rhaas bed plates. My research on the X indicated that the Factory Pipe 701 manifold is different than the Factory Pipe Kawi 650 manifold. I was hoping to use the FP mani for a 61X to bolt onto a FP headpipe made for the X2/SX Kawi. Do I have this understood correctly. will it fit?? My understanding is the 3 bolt hole pattern is rotated and will not allow head pipe and chamber to clear. Yes??

The Rhaas kit bolts in before the motor mounts and uses shorter motor mounts. It lines up everything by moving where the mounts are located, not by changing the bed plates.

The mounting angle of the head pipe is dependent upon the bolt pattern of the manifold. The Kawi 750 FPP head pipe does not fit with the matching manifold but does fit with the westcoast 650 manifold (which is meaty enough to port), but alters the alignment with the chamber. I haven't mounted a yam701 but the pictures I have seen the manifold and head pipe work. I have a SJ chamber in my X2 so I imagine with Yam701 you will need to crush the tank like I did. If you have a choice, the SJ mod may fit better than my SJ limited chamber.

I've also heard the SXR800 exhaust system clears the hull if you decide to stick with the Kawi, but anything you use will hit the tank.

I have a used Rhass complete kit if you're interested, I ran a 701 in my 650sx for a while. It's super easy to do. Find an old wetjet 701, they have tons of useful parts like ebox mounting bracket, hoses exc. I had to move my fire extinguisher tube on the 650, there wasn't room for the exhaust. I basically just cut it off with a hack saw from the inside, leaving the twist seal part of the tube.

Do you still have the rhass kit? I’d be interested.
