Have always wanted one, just never wanted to spend the money. My Mom gave me a nice Birthday Present. Enough to purchase one. So pulled the trigger on this one with help from an old friend who is a gun nut. Said these were the best bang for the buck.... I had sent him pics of a S&W and Ruger that was here local at a gun shop. He said they are nice, but this PSA was better..... Just waiting on it to ship to gun shop I was looking at. Turns out they deal with PSA alot as well. When I told them what I was looking at he said "Thanks for Supporting us!" Handed me a PSA Sticker!!!!!!!! The reasons for the different hand guards are not cosmetic. Free floating the barrel, adjustable gas block, hand/grip positioning… but it’s all preference. I personally dislike having front sight in the way of red dot/optic, so changing that gas block would be a given.

Otherwise, welcome to the watch list of people who own evil black rifles clearly destined to be terrorists (no acronym yet assigned).

Just add a red dot sight. Get a decent case for it and some AMMO. Dont plan to really modify it. I like the traditional looks of the M4/AR15's. Dont really care for the modern versions with the long skeletal handguard extensions.
Well you gotta get a better trigger or at least polish and clean up the stock one. And since you are old you will want a bi-pod and 3x magnifier for the red dot. Or better yet just get a 1-6x AR optic for it. And then if you really want to spend some money get a 458 socom upper for it. =) Or if you really want to save money get a 22lr upper for it.

If you are close enough I would highly highly recommend doing an appleseed with your daughter. You will love it as well and learn a ton. Best done with a 10/22 but can also do with an AR.

If the cost of skis and maintenance wasn't enough now you just entered into the realm of gotta have another. Oh I need a 20" to reach way out there or I need a 10" for home defense etc...
My Edge literally does not cost me much!!!!!!!!!!! Dont ride enough to break things!!!!!!!! LOL But in all honesty, Other than Bending the Crank a few years ago, this ski is the most reliable ski I have owned. LPW Built DASA Non PV....... Nothing Fancy, Black Jack 44's.......

my opinion, not that you asked…

Help her get into USPSA/IDPA pistol leagues. Pretty low cost to get in and shoot, and it’s the most practical thing to get good at (handling a pistol). Transitions easily to multi-gun shooting, where, say, pistol and AR are in play. Biggest point is there are lots of people to learn from, shoot with, lots of places set up for it, etc.

You did well. PSA is a good brand and this one is a good entry level rifle. I have a Trijicon ACOG 4x32 on my Colt (M4 platform). They’re expensive but made in the US and well worth the money. Especially for us older guys that can’t see worth a crap. The front site won’t get in the way either.

Another option is an EOTECH if you want a red dot. If you opt for a cheaper option, Burris makes decent optics but not US made. A lot of the stuff out on the market is cheap Chinese garbage that won’t hold a zero.
