Finally got to compare the new carbon bob gen3 to my rickter xfr. It was a very fun weekend and i will definetly post more pics video and info about the 2 skis. the rickter is supporting a dasa 950 8mm stroker, stock pump (waiting on 148 from thrust), 48mm BJ"s, and epic igntion. The bob is running a 888cc 5mm stroker with 144 solas mag pump, MSD total loss, and 46mm BJ's. I will wright full ride review after the weekend. Both very fun hulls!

Coming off a Superjet they both are a bitc! to ride, I just bombed around the lake with the noses pointing straight up, I must just be a horrable rider or too fat

Imo they are very very simular

CLEAR DIFFERENCES:
xfr weight - 303.2lbs rtr with 5lbs of fuel and fresh off the water
gen3 weight - 255lbs rtr
xfr hood - 11.6lbs
gen3 hood - 7.6lbs
gen 3 144solas mag pump - 22.2lbs
xfr stock pump - 15.2lbs
gen3 tray rails appear a little lower
gen3 tray appears wider
appx 1200.00 usd

SIMILARITIES:
top decks look very close
quality is excellent on both
both skis pop and throw around like crazy!!!
both sexy as can be

we were in the midst of swapping pumps when i got called out to the rig so we had to call er quits'. i really wanted to see if it was the total loss or the pump that was giving the 888 a little more "snap" on the bottom end. both motors hit FRIGEN hard

Ya we didn't get much ride time on the ski's. I will post a full ride report when I get it out to the cabin this weekend

Awesome post, need more stuff like this!
How do the two hulls compare? Im aware of two diffrent engine/pump setups. But Can you give a review of how they handle, compared to the other and how they feel. As the BOB is ca. 45lbs lighter.
Im in the process of looking for a new hull, and have been looking at both XFS and BOB gen 2/3 :)

Thanks Christian

Christian,

When are you next in the UK? Why not come upmand have a day on my XFS - you need to ride them for a good couple of hours to get the feel.

We have been riding the 2 all weekend. The gen3 from my opinion rides slightly more noze high at slower speeds and I think it feels more like a competition hull. It wants to flip like crazy! We will be doing a bou race tommorrow with them ! Lol! I love both skis

When I was waiting for my xfs, everyone kept telling me it rode just like a BOB. I don't think so at all, both handle well, no complaints on how they ride or handle. I just think theres definitely a difference in how they ride/handle. Granted I had a G2. My buddy should have his G3 done tomorrow and then I can compare his to mine. Bob seemed to ride slightly more nose high, the xfs seems a tad more stable at speeds and easier to get the nose down. That's just a few of the differences I noticed so far.

I have to agree, considering what it's capable of the XFS can be ridden by anyone, it's no wheelie machine, rides really nice and stable then flips and rolls like nothing I've ridden before! It rides like a purpose designed hull.

Except the turf is a death wish and sucks!!!! They have similialarities, but from my experience def don't have a similar ride. Rickter seems wider, more stable at slow and high speeds, bob rides nose high and begs to be flipped. Not saying anything bad about either hull, just tough to put into words the difference in how they ride. Both nice boats, don't care to get into the little details of each. Have more input next week after riding a G3, but def a G2 and XFS have a different ride to me anyways.

I agree, the ride is quite different. The XFR is more stable and is easier to keep the nose down. The bob feels more flickable and I find it carves better, I love how well it holds a rail. I wouldn't say one ski is a better ride then the other, there both fun in there own ways. Both the ski take a little effort to get the nose down, but once they do they ride really nice. You can chase boats with both skis no problem
