I picked up a “fairly” unmolested SN and the plan is to make a tiny and light as possible SN.
I dub this build the “L7 Tiny Nose” or something dumb like that ...
The plan thus far:
- To shorten and rocker the front
- shorten the rear pretty much all the way back to rear pump bolts
- widen the tray
- Lower the hood
- And move the top deck forward about an inch or so
Since everyone is making these micro and circus hulls I figured I would like a tiny a$$ SuperJet so I am going to give it a whirl.
If everything turns out ok and I end up liking the results next year’s build will be to make a mold of the hull then do a carbon layup, but that is just dream talking for now.

Step 1
De-turfed and tray removal.
This is my first time doing said job and i must say it wasn't all that bad, jig saw and the dremel multimaster works pretty good for this.

Step 2 Split the Decks

Did a lot of research on doing this and everyone seems to think that this is a horrible job when in fact it went very smoothly (getting it back together however is another thing)
took me about two hours in total to split the decks mainly using a 3 inch paint scraper with a sharp blade and a rubber mallet. I just went along the bond line and drove the scraper in between the deck with the rubber mallet, I just went along the perimeter of the hull. After I though that they were no longer attached I made my way to the bulk head using the scrapper and dremel this went quite smoothly as well. I used a couple of screw drivers and popped the top deck off with on damage to either the top of bottom decks or bond line.

clean removal .. nice work

Thanks! I am sure that is due to the patients I had because I spent a good 30 minutes just staring at the hull trying to figure out the best way to break it apart before I decide to take the hammer to it.

I am at the point where I need to order supplies and could use a little help picking out what to order and how much to order. Going to order a gallon of West Systems Epoxy Resin (105) and a quart of their slow hardener (206) and fast hardener (205) but I could use some help in ordering some cloth?
Going to stick with fiberglass for now, but what would everyone recommend? And how many yards of each cloth to order? E-Glass, S-Glass, Biaxials, Twill etc… and what weights? What seems to be the industry standard of sorts for these types of build up?
Unless anyone knows or a better place, I am probably using http://www.uscomposites.com/ to order the materials.

Nate, let me know when your working on it, Ill bring the beers!

I might make my way out to the garage on Friday, I have the day off! don't know what project to work on either finish insulating the garage so I can get some heat out there this winter or just stare at the ski and think about where I should cut next lol.

Really need to place an order for materials but I am still unsure of what all I need.
So far this is what I am thinking so far. What you think?

What are you trying to do
Exactly. That really determines your material
Needs

Ha, don't really know exactly ... but will need to rebuild the tray, lower the hood, rebuild / shape the nose, plus widen the intake, shorted the bottom deck ...
I just want to have the bases covered so I am not always ordering stuff
