Not only is it at least 4.5LB heavier, almost all that weight it at the head so as far as CoG goes, this +4.5LB figure is compounded.
I don't think people will be selling their old XM pole to buy a new XM pole just because they want to shave 1LB. If the new XM pole was 1LB lighter at the head area, then I could see this happening but the 1LB savings is spread across the whole pole. I'm thinking in terms of CoG.

Anytime you can make an existing part lighter w/o compromising strength that is just free performance. You would be surprised how you can shed 10lbs off a boat
