What does a freeride entail?

Having never been to a Freeride, can someone tell me what happens at 1? (Assuming everyone didn't get too drunk to forget everything.):trink26:

We're thinking about going to the Lonestar 1 next month. It's a long drive, so I was hoping on finding out what happens at these things to see if it's worth my while or if I think I'd totally hate it.

Does everyone just ride around all day doing whatever they please?

Is a freeride just a giant get together?

From my two experiences at LSFR, the days are about riding (both your ski and others), wrenching (axe optional), relaxing and talking skis. Evenings are about a giant meal, talking about the day, wrenching, talking skis and gathering combustable materials. Nights are about drinking, bonfires, pit bike racing, drinking, wrenching (standing around the ski with wrench in one hand and beer in the other), bonfires, laughing, testing gravity and making friends.

Freeride is where it's at.

Yes, depending on the ride, it will be not at all, to somewhat organized. Daytona is probably the most organized ride I know about. Lonestar is a very relaxed ride. We are planning the 2 meals where most of will get together at more or less the same time. We will have a large bonfire on the beach Sat pm. Other than that, ride when you feel like it and waves are hittin', hang on the beach with whoever you feel like hanging with. Almost everybody stays on or close to the beach, so there's always lots of peeps around w/easy-ups to share shade and what not.

I can pretty much guarantee that you will enjoy yourself, even if we don't get great surf. We have people coming down from CO, from GA, from LA, from KS, maybe a guy from MI, I don't even know where all everybody's coming from.

Edit: Saws-All optional, too. You have seen the pic of Mark taking the saws-all to his hull extensions from last year, right?

No one has told him about the Newbie Initiation. You will need to bring hand cuff, feathers, blind fold and jar of pills for that.
