Is it possible for me to turn off the autoloading when you put your mouse accross its making the site really slow for me

For some reason the X loads a whole lot of content everytine you click on something and it takes ages

As a user can i turn it off with out going back to pure basic and no pictures at all

By the way i have a 1.5 meg connection so its not my internet speed

No, you can't turn it off.

I'd say the issue is on your computer. Try to update your Java (start>>control panel>>Java>>Update

If you roll over a thumbnail, it will try to open it, but if you roll across it, it won't do anything.

Can you just not roll over them?

Also, what browser are you using? Can you install something else like Firefox or Safari and test with that?

Ok i just tried to update java i have the latest

"If you roll over a thumbnail, it will try to open it, but if you roll across it, it won't do anything"

I dont understand the difference
If my cursor goes over a thumbnail yeah it tries to auto open
I just try and bet it by hitting the centre button and opening in a new window

Im running ie7
I guess i could try and download firefox but it just seems to be this site i would rather keep ie7

If I put my mouse on a thumbnail, it will open it. If I roll my mouse across it and past to a different section, it doesn't do anything. You can see the address bar show that it's going to try to open something, but as soon as the mouse is off the image, it goes back to blank.

It does this in both Firefox and IE7 for me.

BTW, I'm on 1.5 T-1 here at work and 10 cable at home, does it the same at both in both browsers.

What happens if you just roll across and past one of them?

yeah if i just roll across its cool
But when some one has about 5 pics i click on them all to open in a new tab so they can load while i keep reading
If i am not quick the pic comes up on the main screen
I just want to stop it trying to load it twice and slowing down the site for me

I'm lost at what you want. Just don't leave your mouse on a thumbnail? Doesn't that solve your problem? There is a delay built in to prevent what you're describing, just how slow are you moving the mouse?

I have no problem moving right over one even at home on 10 mbps internet.

Ok, who is being serious about this? If I don't want it to enlarge the pic, I just roll my mouse past the thumbnail. Is that really that hard to do?

Im just trying to figure out why its so slow to load all the pages
I was thinking it was the loading of the pics
But when i look closely as to whats loading i see its the png files running in the back ground that seem to be taking the time
It doesnt matter i was just seeing if i could speed up the way the site was loading for me

What if you want to enlarge 10 pictures in a different tab and keep reading while they're loading? That is what I normally do, but when I do that, it opens in the new tab and enlarges on the original page as well, I feel I could get a lot more work done at work if the pictures would load faster :veryhappy: . Its not a huge problem, but a pain in the :booty:

Check to make sure you have caching enabled. In IE7>>Internet Options>>Browsing History>>Settings>>make sure the disk space to use isn't zero. I normally set it at 50mb.

Ok here is my settings

Ok, change that to Automatically and lower the disk to like 50.

You are currently reloading all pages every time you hit them, but also have 1Gb of files set for your cache.

Automatic and 50mb should take care of things hopefully.

On the pics you want to see, CTRL-Click them instead, it should load in a background tab then. It does on my Firefox. This behavior hasn't changed, the auto-opening is just an extra feature.

OK that worked
Thanks heaps
Even pwctoday loads faster now as well

Cool.

It was a combination of things, one was it would reload everything every time you hit a page, two was your computer would keep 1Gb of images/etc on the computer so it would have to delete/rewrite everything on every page.
