This is a old skool video I got in 98 off the Westcoast website. As many know, Westcoast was a aftermarket company for PWC. They are no longer in business. This is Rick Roy the legend going off in 1997!! Enjoy watching one of the masters of our sport!
This competition for this day had a 3K purse!! Wish it was like that today...
Rick Roy was the first to do a barrel roll on flatwater. Also the first to do a "Rickter invert" also known as a back flip or "backy" on a stand up in competition(in the ocean). Rick was the first and only person to ever receive perfect 10 scoring in competition too!

The vid quality is not the greatest because its 11 years old and that was pretty much the standard back then on the internet.

I would watch that video as crappy quality as it is 10X before i watch the roll/flip routine of today in 1080p

Ya, I'll bet if Rick wanted to compete, he could jump right in with the best of them... Even with the new tricks of today. Prolly win too!

Yes that is true, but Jeff did it on a ocean wave. Rick was the first on flat water.

Peterborough, Ont. I believe 1991 or 92 I was competing in freestyle as well as racing and I met Rick Roy, it was his first ever freestyle comp, I remember him saying that he didnt know how well he might do and that he was nervous. Well he won, hands down the best routine I had ever seen at the time, and he had never done a show before. Amazing, I will never forget it.
