Carb adjustment screws

On my dual 38's off an 05sj, the adjustment screws are counter-sunk 3/4 inch or due to "tamper-proof" plugs that I removed. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make adjustments more accessible while the ski is in one piece?

I think JSS offers extended needles with finger adjusters :theyareontome:. I need something...

I drilled holes in the ends of my low & high speed adjusting screws and installed stainless steel roll pins through them. Then I installed some yellow and black caps over the pins for easy visible adjustments.

bit of warning about the JSS adjustment knobs, due to the extra weight and size, they adjustment screws have been known to back themselves out during operation............... Had this happen first hand, even worked its way all the way out once.............

No poop :17: If they don't stay in, at least they'll get the initial tuning job done. Thanks BK I'll keep my eye on them if that's the route I go.

#.0 - I like your idea too. Thanks for the help everyone.

just pay attention to them, alot of peeps have not had issues, alot have............

I noticed something was up when I constantly was having to keep tuning............ finally I realized after running the adjustment all the way in, that it was about a turn or more out from where it was suppose to be, set it back, rode a few times, then ski started to not run as good, checked and it was back out a turn..........

It one of those physics things, the extra mass on the end of the shaft, along with the vibrations, gives it extra torque to start backing its way out......

Torque = Leverage........... need freestylegeek to give a better explanation.

At least they back out and create a rich condition, better than the alternative.

true, but what happens when they come all the way out, does that make it stay rich or go lean? Loss of vacuum so to speak? Scary thought!

John at JSS says you're supposed to stretch the adjustment needle springs a bit to add extra tension. I didn't & mine haven't moved in a year (yet).

I did that too (except my roll pins weren't stainless) and it works great!
