Caution!

FYI TO EVERYONE COMING.... Be sure to have your registration, drivers license, current registration #'s and decals on your ski, fire extinguisher, safety whistle, pfd, and kill switch/lanyard ALL available for inspection. THEY WILL CHECK! The Beach Patrol guys are nice but require all of that to give you a permit sticker. These are the things they checked on our skis last Friday before they gave us our stickers.

borrow one.
don't make the mistake I did. a couple of years ago I parked at the end of the beach access ramp and was going to double check the staging of my ski's. as soon as they saw me they started blowing wistles and made me drive all the way down right away and tried to bust me for something. so, do your double checking in a parking lot somewhere.

Bring your HIN numbers and make sure they match your registration. I have been here since satuday, went to register today but got hung up on my HIN numbers. He couldn't see and ID tags on my ski and wanted to seize my ski....? They wouldn't let me ride. Drove all the way and the didn't even want my money....:17:

I guess they have had trouble recently with a bunch of stolen skis. Just heads up to everyone headed down. I tried to level with the guy an even thought about bribing him...but why let the guy profit?

Maybe....i can find the HIN number on my ski...:thinkerg:

shoot me a PM with a phone # I can make you one and bring it.
Is that ok? would that work. Im already bringing my pop rivets and gun.

I must have got lucky, I got my Skies inspected Saturday, Guy took my regs, DL & left. He came back with 3 stickers, never looked at my Skies, HIN, VIN, Fire Ext, etc. I thought for sure I was going to have problems, but this guy was cool about it. If you need helping making a new plate PM me, my hanger is 20 miles north of Daytona & I got all the tools.

just went through a registration situation with my 550, turns out someone was trying to use my registration numbers on a different ski since mine hadent been registered in god knows how long. water detective had to come to my house and check out my ski (we are renivating the house at the moment, table saw in the living room and 2X4's everywhere not exactly the time i want company). in the end everything on my side was ok. this isnt the first time iv had problems like this with a vehicle. maybe ill just but new from now on...

What exactly does this mean?

Does it mean I don't have to fudge a lanyard and fire extinguisher due to being custom built for competition? And electrical tape registration numbers will work? Heh.

Exemptions From Titling

Vessels exempt from titling include:

  • non-motor-powered vessels less than 16 feet in length,
  • vessels owned by the United States Government,
  • federally documented vessels,
  • vessels used exclusively on private lakes and ponds,
  • amphibious vessels for which a vehicle title is issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles,
  • vessels used solely for demonstration, testing or sales promotional purposes by a dealer or manufacturer,
  • vessels owned and operated by the state or its political subdivisions
  • vessels from a country other than the U.S., temporarily using the waters of this state for not more than 90 days and
  • vessels already covered by registration numbers awarded according to a federally approved numbering system of another state or by the United States Coast Guard in a state without a federally approved numbering system, provided that the vessels are not operated in Florida waters more than 90 consecutive days.

I forget who told me this, I think it was a water cop, but demonstration skis and competition skis can only be used in sanctioned events.

Otherwise, technically, the ski has to follow by the "standard" or "regular" rules.

So I will have to rig up a lanyard that looks legit and borrow a fire extinguisher.

beach patrol doesn't give a chit about your special exceptions or anything like that. have your paperwork in order and the rest of the requirements or don't ride.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
I guess a year isn't enough time for some people to make sure their ski is up to date with the correct paperwork .:loser:
