Let me ramble some background.

I HATE pole skis...F:tapedshut:CKING HATE them. I have owned 2 FX1's, and spent time on superjets... but I could never get into riding a ski with a pole. I did alot of BMX'ing as a kid, and pole skis were just awkward.

Maybe 3-4 years ago I first saw the Chris Maros 24/7 conversion hood for the SJ, on the old 247 website. Being a diehard X-2 guy, I instantly fell in love with it!! But being 24/7 wasn't owned by chris at the time, I didnt think I would ever be able to get one. Fast foward 3 years (and bypassing my other experience with new 247).... I recently saw that WaveDemon was selling a Chris Maros made conversion hood. I always though a fixed steer SJ would be the perfect setup for me.

I JUST HAD TO KNOW!!!!.......

First things that must be addressed. The SJ has a 62T motor and a drypipe... Neither of those will work for me. So a 61X topend and BPIPE are scheduled for installation next week. Going to leave it a basic limited setup until winter. If the $$$$ is there I have pretty big plans for the powerplant. Also will be installing the 144 pump out of my X2. 12/17 C75 swirl and TBM. The wamiltions pulley trim will also be installed on the SJ!! Should be a week or 2 and this thing will be on the water!!!

Need to thank WaveDemon for doing a killer job packing the hood for the 1200mile trip north. Thing didnt even budge in there.

So here I will let some pictures do the 1000 word thing..

I got a good laugh out of this. Here is the hood in one of its previous lives. Not even 30miles from my house...LOL Hood has done some traveling.

Got the hood on today (thanks Powder for the help!) Hood fit/lined up perfect. Having some difficulty with the steering. The cable is obviously longer then needed and its binding up, right where the cable leaves the hull (see pic). The steering works but it is not very free moving. Will play around with it some more and hopefully get that figured out.

Drypipe has been removed, going to redo all cooling, fuel, and electric. If all goes well pulling cylinder off Weds night and putting the 61x cylinder & BPIPE on.

Also looking at the X2 and SJX2 next to each other, the SJX2 handle bars are much higher. I think I am REALLY going to like this!

Gutted the ski today, pulled 62T motor, electric, ripped all fuel and water lines out. Installed a fresh 61x motor, and 61x electric that was in need of some TLC. BPIPE is also in. Still working out bugs with the start/stop switch. Doesnt start with I press start but kicks when you jump the relay. No big deal there. All thats left is to install gas tank, run new fuel/cooling lines, mount handlebars, and connect throttle cable.

Hoping to test ride it tomorrow afternoon!
