Easiest to install, best functioning trim system?

I'm going to bite the bullett and buy a trim setup. It's going to be my xmas present from my wife. The only system I have seen is the Thrust Innovations and it was throwing up and to the right at the same time. I don't want to deal with that kingd of a problem.

What's the best system for easy installation and trouble free use and why? I'm expecting some good debates.

I just put a x metal system on my ski so far i am happy with it it's smooth and solid. It was very easy to install. I did work the trim ring to get more throw but the amount of throw on the cable system is not equal to the degree of what the ring will go now. i have not looked at that that much yet.. Over all very happy with the product..

Thrust trim throws to the right minimally. It only does it when you get higher into the throw due to the restriction from the steering cable. It's the best one out there.

I have seen both the Xmetal set up & Thrust. Both are great set ups, I think Thrust would be the better Flatwater set up, Xmetal for the surf/flat water. I run the Thrust set up. Going to install the xmetal set up on my surf ski.

You can't beat the Xmetal set up for the price. Only thing I didn't like on the xmetal set up was the lever. Thrust lever is very nice.

You can't go wrong either way!

First thing you need to ask your self what you are going to use it for, I have trim and never use it for anything I just followed the band wagon.

I am going to use it to try some backflips off my wakeboard boat's 90 degree set up wake. Maybe it will help me set up a bigger wake for myself too. Hopefully one day I'll have enough power not to need such a large wave.

The Thrust trim I used threw WAY to the right. So much so that it was unusable. This is the only info I have about it so this thread was for some other feedback/opinions.

I'm definitley leaning towards the x-metal for the money. Does the x-metal system need anything else to be complete besides a different nozzle? What kind of nozzle do I need? Places to find it cheap/salvage?

just got a x metal on my SJ today! very pleased with fit and finish for the $. I did have to do some grinding on the reduction nozzle for a little more throw but it did not take much time.

I was looking at the xmetal setup over the weekend since some people complain about the steering of their CATS setups being bad. It seems like a good deal but then I realized that you still have to use a 62T reduction nozzle and steering nozzle so you aren't gaining much advantage. However, on their site, they specifically state that you can buy individual parts for use on a CATS setup by contacting them directly.

Additionally, Protec sells individual parts as well. I haven't decided what I'm going with but since I'm getting a stunt hull, I'm going to want some kind of trim.

What about installation?
Do you really have to drill a hole in the Hull to make room for the cable?
I can't find any Threads with steps....

McDog-I have the Thrust setup and u are correct-the nozzle does go up at an angle-after one tank of gas u learn to lean the opp direction and it no longer matters. I really think the Thrust is one of the better systems out there and for me anyway-the nozzle going up at an angle is a non issue now. I can go in a straight line w/trim full up as long as I desire. It simply takes a tank of gas to get used to. IMHO-W/u have trim with that much throw-I don't see how any of them can NOT go up and over a little unless u do something funky w/the steering cable end.

I know this is off topic but semi-relevant to the products mentioned....anyway how F-ing annoying is thrust innovations music every GD time you click on something!!! OMG I can't even surf their site without turning the volume down and it's not like they give you an option to turn it off.

don't try to rig something together, buy a kit... those components get pretty stressed with the amount of pressure coming out and one less thing to worry about.

i currently have a thrust innovations. well built, good quality components. highly recommend.

i agree with the people above, ditch the sound on the site! :dead1:

constructive criticism
