Super Jet SN vs. RN? Worth buying a RN?

I have a 650 SN now. Over the winter I plan on swapping a 701 into it. But my question besides the 701 is the RN worth buying? Was there any major improvements?(besides looks lol)

I like the RN a lot more than the SN, but if its not much of a difference. I'll just put a 701 into my SN. The hulls in good condition already just needs to be painted.

Also will I lose power switching to a stock 701 with the mods my 650 has already?

The bottom hulls are the same, but I still like the way the RN handles way better than the SN. I own both. When I gp from the RN to the SN, it just feels sloppier with less control, like I am less 'in touch' with the water.

Having the same bottom is as far as they go as far as being the same. leverage and handling is better on the RN. more options as far as hoods and poles.

I prefer the handling of the SN, myself
handle pole pivot is lower than a RN
RN feels top heavy to me
try to ride both to compare

X2... I feel like my center of gravity is lower when I ride a SN so I prefer the handling of the SN better. IMO, if you're going to upgrade solely on looks, you're better off doing a top deck conversion or spending just a bit more and getting an aftermarket hull. A SN with an aftermarket top deck will be superior to a stock RN. Good looks inspire confidence though and a bit of confidence can be the difference between a success trick and a failure so if opening your wallet gives you that extra little bit, more power to ya.

Most mods that will produce noticeable power gains on a 650 can be swapped over or modified to fit a 701 except a cylinder head if it doesn't have interchangeable domes.

If you considering buying a 701 engine and a bare RN hull, most parts will swap over but some won't so do your research and make sure you know all the other parts you'll have to buy first. Some of the things that come to mind immediately are hood, midshaft, pole, pole spring, pole bracket, pole bolt, and chin pad. The waterboxes are different but you can get away with mixing and matching them if necessary.

I've got a 650 square that I redid a few months back with foothold paint n turf. Threw a 701 n used my carb n ebox off the 650 crabs put a pipe on it n it rides great it seems easier to me to carve than a rn but it feels heavier n it is harder to find hoods n pole set ups n to determine if its worth spending the $$ on an old hull.

Think of your old ski as indevidual parts instead of a whole vehicle. I would rather have the same $$$ in an S/N with a good engine than a R/N that needs one.

sn handles better then a rn. rn is better in the surf do to all the hoods that are made for them. good luck finding a good sn hood.
