Surfriding Kevins Area 51 super surf hull TWEEKER X-TREME build ....... maybe

Well .... as some of you guys know, I'm now a surf expert having been in the salt 5 times . Ross and Taylor Curtis now have me on speed dial ..... looking for pointers ..... Thats no problem. I'm always eager to help the little people .

Here it goes :

My goal is to make a hull that is extremely resistant to pearling ,easy to break loose , but still track well when needed (us pros really like that).

Design :

I have had years of white water experience on rivers as well as surf so it's no surprise that my design will incorporate some aspects of your typical white water boat (maybe a mistake , but I'm going with it ). I do realize after reviewing several post ( insert someone on the west coast ) that no improvements can be made, and the RN hull is the perfect surf hull . With that said , please forgive my transgressions .

1 .The front rocker will be modeled after a full on surf Kayak . Rocker will also be added to the rear much like TEM's superfreak and the old XFT back flip design .

2. The length will be approx minus 4 -5 off the front and minus 1.5 in the rear (maybe more just depends on how the balance looks ) .

3. May add additional pump mounts to run an extended ware ring . (easy to do while the hull is apart )

4. May build up the strakes a little if it's to loose or add wake board fins to the ride plate . My thoughts are that you can always tighten up handling if needed.

5. May rocker the bond line in the rear of the top deck for a more swoopy affect

6. May have an open bulk head design and use float bags instead of foam

7. doubtful that I will widen the pump tunnel but it's on the table.

8. eight I forgot what 8 was for but 9 ......

9. Adding some width to the sides .... tubbyish like thingys i think .

Now for the pics.

Photo 1 : I used heat and persuasion to re mold the bottom deck . SMC responds well to heat. Just watch and be careful.

Photo 2 : Measurements for water box location ,fuel tank etc. You only have about 1.5 inches of clearance on the fuel tank so if you lift it to much you will have to use an after market tank.

Photo 3 : Surf Kayak silly

photo 4 : Cut relief marks every 2 inches to raise the gunwales to match bottom deck . I have some room to play with as far as length. If you notice in pic two there is a gap . I can fill it or chop it . I really have not decided ... leaning toward chopping .

More later....... freekin Taylor is calling again ....... got to go
