I'm in a similar boat. I have a 140 skat with fx1 length shaft, and i need to put it in 08+ SJ. Jetmaniac did the original work on the driveshaft years ago. Check with them. I think it was a cut and reweld to end up at the right length.
The ECU flash and the impeller are where you'll see your gains, and should be your first engine related purchases. The intake and exhaust hardware aren't necessary. Your Kommander grate is about 1mph faster on top end than the more aggressive grates.
Don't get discouraged by the negative nancies, but realistically it's hundreds of hours working with hazardous materials to create something that may or may not function how you want it to. It's a hobby. Start small and If you enjoy it, keep at it.
I weighed my SJ4 about two years ago. I used a 3 point system to measure, since i wanted to compare the weight bias and total weight to an NA 1050 GP1. I ended up at 438 total with full tank and no extinguisher. I always questioned the accuracy, but it looks like our numbers are pretty close.
I have pics. I wasn't sure about doing a build thread since this site has limited interest in buoy skis. As a whole, the project is about 30% complete with the end goal of ending up with a tunable superjet sized hull with modern handling characteristics specific to my preferences.
The cheap GP poly resin I use fully cures after 3 days w/ no wax. Though wax could be added to fully cure same day.
For hot Arizona summers, the shop I buy from recommends spraying a light top coat of pva instead of mixing in wax on final layer.
