FX-1 144 pump mod

What is so bad about the stock FX-1 pump? Isnt the same diameter as a Kawi? Just asking since the Kawis do fine with a smaller pump. Obviously bigger is better, that being said why not go 148 for all the work involved? Just asking thats all, don't want the usual crucification that people get for asking a question.

nothing wrong really, it works. its just a little short on power and hookup in certain conditions and the more motor you add the worse it gets. and just as you pointed out the new hottest thing going is to go with a bigger pump. competition skis are using 155mm from couches. lots of guys are going with kawi pumps, but most that have ridden a complete 144 agree that it has a little more output.

It is however a major undertaking to install. so whatever is the cheapest, easiest to install, most power you can get, would be the way to go. we are only limited by our imagination and skill.

Well that ends my confusion. I thought the FX-1 had a 140mm pump. Yeah that suckers gotta go, LOL

Nope did'nt know. I've never been an FX-1 "fan boy". I've seen guys rip with them,but I'm old and suck so I require an SXR platform to stay in the tray lol. That also explains why the WDK F1 is so popular with the FX-1 guys.

im too am slow and old and a little on the heavy side. but its like anything else if you do it long enough it gets easier. between my sj and sxr I like the quick and slippery sj ride better most days. the fx we did up is even more quick and slippery. a stock fx is too much work for me at this point. im sure with time I could ride the hell out of it. but a lighter looser sj is as much fun as I can safely handle today. gonna be starting a hull build soon. should be fun.

I'm with you on the "Too much work" thing.
I think a wider bond rail would make a huge difference. I may break down and do that to mine. Or not...

2 out of 3 tasks for adj footholds are complete. soon, very soon I promise. trust me nobody wants me selling these more than my wife, any married guys know this kind of relentless pressure will get it done ASAP lol. I could give you her number but the updates would suck as she doesnt care about details only paychecks.
