well asfter reading this i feel i must say that i did a 650sx winter project custom paint,750 motor swap, all the good stuff and after 3000.00 that i sunk into this pig dont go down the 650sx road.they are not good freestyle skis they have no resale value at all and you will never get a more dependable ski than a yami.i got a 650 superjet with a trailer that needed starter work and it starts everyday no choke needed best ski i ever bought.i have owned ALOT of skis and the yamis ALWAYS run and i swim most of the kawi's back at least once an outing.........just something to think about

I'd buy it for only 500. Hell, the hull alone is worth that.

If you can do the work yourself, I will throw in some high $$$ totals for a rebuid

Cylinder rebore, hone, ect... ~450
New pistons, rings, ect... ~200 at the most
Random gaskets... ~50
Hotrods crank... ~375 (Or you could send your crank in to SBT ~275)
Random sealant, blah blah blah... ~20

I'd do it.

Or, you could buy Spug's engine for 850 with all electronics, and it's a way better engine than you would have to rebuild.

So 850+500+ some labor = a good running ugly ski

ID DO IT

i have seen a few yami triples with rods sticking through the blocks, and they still ran on 2cyls to get back to the shore. Id like to see a kaw do that:)

ya i think everything has pretty much been said. that kawi is a great starter ski if you can get it super cheap. I bought my 89 650sx for $600, sold it for $500 after that summer and got right into a superjet. if you're gonna spend anymore than that i'd listen to these guys and wait for a deal on a superjet.

I lost a piston one day on a 701 and had no trouble getting anywhere and it still ran about 25mph
