Custom/Hybrid 2013 gen 3 build!

Almost all technique on the setup for flips. You have to do a lot of things in about two seconds of time. Just starting to get the flips down myself after a year.

I'd recommend running their long ride plate if you have one.

i dont have the long plate, but i also dont mind riding nose high. i love the way the hull feels and after one day of riding im already getting pretty comfortable! hopefuly ill get the technique down for my flips soon!

Probably a stupid question! but i was planning on running a 144 setback mag, but was told to run a 148. if i were to run a 148mm pump, do i need a new wear ring and reduction nozzle as well? and also, on a stock stroke 828cc (planned powerplant) is a 144 SB mag a good pump to run? or should we go 148?

thanks guys!

I ran a 144 setback mag with my 865 gen 3 and it worked good but I would imagine a 148 would work good too. Depends on riding style preference and how much power you have.

Just an opinion here, but I would spend my $$ on a stroker motor before changing pumps. Most of the engine builders get more power from stroke cc's than from bore cc's. The 144 is a good pump. Then once I had a monster stroker I would get the 148.

Hah yeah I am steven! And thank you for your help guys! The input helps! Ill probably go with the 144 because of the price. But the motor is coming second unfortunatly.

swapped out the X-metal straight bars for some ATP riser bars. Allows the pole to be shorter and still have clearance with the hood.

yeah just to answer the the on going question about riser bars on an xmetal adjustable steering plate... they fit perfectly no grinding necessary on either part. and with the plate set at -2 inches (all the way in) the bars to not contact the chin pad when tuned to the max (when bars are straight up and down). the sliding quick steer also "fits" it was a bit weird making it work, but it worked! so if you are looking for 0* riser bars for an xmetal steering setup, the ATP bars fit and work incredibly! thank you ATP for another great product!

After the fun of building this great hull came the hassle of registering it with the California DMV. SInce the hull does not come with a H.I.N. number you have to apply for it. I called DMV and asked what I needed to do and which forms were required. They told me I had to bring the forms (BOAT 100 and Proof of Purchase) along with the ski to the DMV location. I made my appointment on-line and off to the DMV I went with the ski in tow.

The person I talked to had never heard of "The Ski Clinic", BOB hulls, or any Jet Ski that did not have an HIN. I had to explain to a couple of people and show them the bill of sale and "The BOB HULL" website. Finally they agreed to give me an H.I.N. and registration numbers after which I asked if they needed to see it. The clerk at the counter said "Why would we need to see it?"... go figure... our tax dollars at work!

Arizona is the same way except we register with the game and fish department. I only towed down a ski once in case they needed to inspect anything. Then after I just walked in with the expired registration and walked out with new tags.

Sadly I have been after an FX1 they have had sitting in the impound yard for 2 years and I they won't let it go.

The riser bars didn't work out the way we wanted so we went back to the xScream straight bars. We went with risers to get more clearance between knuckles and hood and were able to accomplish that with the straight bars by using a bigger (4 inch) hood shock pad.

Also swapped out the stock SN waterbox for an X-Metal box...

I was waiting to see what you were gunna do with the x-metal box. I cut my last exhaust hose and it was a nightmare. What size straight coupler did you use? Where did you get it?

Home Depot plumbing section. They have a variety of adapters. This one is 2" to 2 1/4" if i remember correctly.

Haven't got the backflip yet but we're getting closer. The best I've been able to do is nose it in. I think Sam (my son) is going to get it as he can launch the ski pretty well now. I weigh about 50lbs more than him so I'm going to get as close as i can with the 701 and stock pump so I'll be ready technique wise once we upgrade the ski. We're already planning on upgrading the pump to a set back mag pump and (as funds allow) upgrading the motor. We've been looking at JetManiac BB or PHP powerplants.

Back in September we upgraded the pump to a Skat 144 Set Back with Hooker 9/15.

Just decided to pull the trigger on a power upgrade.

Talked to Chris "Jet Maniac" for the upgrade order. I trust his advice and his service is top notch.

PHP 898 Power Valve 4mil stroker engine
Novi 48 Freestyle Carbs
PHP Billet Intake
V Force 3 reeds / cage
#Zero Lightened Flywheel
Hooker 11/17 prop

Still thinking about a pimpin' stator cover with the plexiglass window and motor mount "keepers".

Glad to see you rolling with it. Your upgrades look to be spot on.

My recs: I wouldn't worry about the flywheel cover. Save that money and put it towards a PFP. Sell your B-pipe, sell your waterbox, add a few $$$, and get a used PFP. I'm sure you can find a few nowadays.
