Got this “Tom 21” hull from a good friend, turned out to be a lot more than just assembling a ski! Hull is super light but a little thin so reinforced nose top and bottom, had the luxury of really reinforcing the pole mount area properly, bottom and sides of bottom, and hood mount areas. Had to re-set a couple pump mounts and one mid-shaft mount, and widened the pump area for servicing steering cable (also put a nice soft bent cable tube in).
More work than I ever expected as I prefer riding over building, but it’s my once in a lifetime ski. Not sure how the wings/ splash guards along the rails are going to affect ride, and hoping I’ll be okay with the standard tubbies as I’ve gotten used to larger tubbies! Also have to widen tray, don’t understand why he made it so narrow! Probably going to have to engineer some reinforcement for the goofy ride plate that cantilever off the back, I don’t see that lasting at the beach, and building a reinforced beam across front of floor since back will be hollow and every floor I’ve had gets beat up pretty bad.
