650 Superjet w extras vs 701 Stock SJ

Ok guys I have a 90 SJ with the following mods.

Coffmans Pipe
Ocean Pro Intake
Protec Ride plate and Intake grate.

how will it compare to a Stock 701 SJ?

I am wanting to get more power to learn rolls etc. on flatwater.

What do you guys think? Put more into my SN or buy a RN?
if you vote for my SN what adds do you think and approx cost.

(I did a search and didn't find much out there)

why not build a 61x/61x 701? You can save your electroincs, crank and carb off the 650. buy a 61x case for $50, cylinders for $200 (with nice pistons), new gaskets/seals for $50 and some jets for the carb. Throw on all your mods you have now and ride it. The you have a decent platform to build later on.

Dont forget Foot holds $125 installing yourself, pole conversion $200 installing yourself , hood Mods $75 doing yourself correctly. So with motor mods your sinking $600 in an SN with 61x setup. Sell the square off stock for $1100 add the $600 you didnt spend on mods and save another $500 and get the RN.

IMO since your in OR and prolly wont be riding for a few months I would find a RN before I sank that much in an SN that will not EVER exceed $2000 in value. But thats just me.

There are some deals out there on RN skis rite now. Sell The SN (keep the intake grate, pipe and ride plate) replace them with cheap stockers. You will be alot further ahead that way.

Rock the SN for a while. It has the same bottom as the RN. If you change the handle pole to a cool lookin "goose" pole or something similar, it will look bitchen!

Like BombThreat said- build a 61X motor - and ride the crap out of it!
Put a pipe ($300 Coffman from ebay) and prop ($150+) on it for more bottom end.

Do yourself a favor and mod the ski one part at a time. Pick things that can be done in a day or a weekend and be COMPLETED. If you try to add too many things at once, you'll end up having your ski down for a while and then you could end up running out of money, time, interest, or all three, and thats BAAAAAAAAAAD!

Good luck with the mods!
