Super Jet 90 superjet rebuild, turfing issues please help! this is my first build!

okay so you guys have been great help to my build! im building on a budget and have been working on getting my ski water ready again for quite some time. NOW that my gf or should i say ex gf isnt taking up my valuable time any more i want nothing more to get back on the water!!! Im in the turfing stage now, just fiberglassed in my foot holds but im already having trouble with the turf. I tried to give it a shot myself but i ended up wasting turf, good thing i got extra!

THINGS I NEED HELP AND ADVICE ON.

1. what is the best method to turf for someone who hasnt done this before, i couldnt get the glue to get a strong contact and i now have to start over, ide rather not waste more turf. should i section it off? if so what is the best method. I plan on turfing the bumper, the nose if possible, a handle pole rest on the hood (not sure how but ive seen it before), and the area on the tray where the fire extinguisher sits.

2. i want to install a pisser but im not sure where to take the cooling line from, example from the head or the pipe? would it be benificial and what is the purpose of a pisser?

3. whats a good place to get a cheap carb rebuild kit? when i had it in the water the last few times before the rebuild the ski would run good for about 30 min but after that it would cut off, when ide go to start it it would run for about 3 seconds then die, the longer ide let it sit maybe 5 min, it would run for maybe 20 seconds then die again. im tired of being stranded in the lake. i dont think its over heating the head and everything is not too hot or steaming so i dont think thats the culprit.

4. when turfing what size under pad for the tray should i use, do i even need thick underpadding?

5. ANY extra advice for mods or small things i can do to improve my ski would be appreciated

thanks guys, im ready to ride again, i finally bought a crap hull that has a title so now i can register it and hit the ocean. ive been waiting a long time and im getting stoked to ride again, i love being out there and i fell for the sport the moment i got on my ski.

you need weldwood contact cement. its in a red can. wipe down the tray with acetone to make sure its dry. make sure theres no old turf material on there. i don't think you can install a pisser with a stock pipe. i guess you could put a t on one of the stock cooling lines. and get some underpadding before you lay that turf. its gonna help a lot.

Hey im no expert but I think I can help with a few things....

1. I watched the wamiltons videos on how to turf a few times before I even started... a few things that helped me are... I took my time with every piece planning it out, you can use a heat gun to get the turf to wrap easier but I found it stretches as is fairly good enough for me, also use a rubber mallet and hit every part of the turf after you put it on the ski, this helps the glue bond, also I did two layers of glue on every piece-very important to let the glue set up for 5 or so minutes before applying the next coat and before sticking to the ski...turfing the sides is easy just measure out the sides and cut strips out of the turf, tape off the paint above where the turf will go above the bondrail and sand the edges so the turf will adhere, also make sure you sand any area you are planning on putting turf and be sure to tape off any area you dont want scratched up by sanding..

2. I guess I havent had a stock exhaust in a while but the pisser should be the hot water exiting the pipe, you should already have one installed so if you want to put an anodized one on or something then it should be just a quick swap of the actual outlet

3. Jetmaniac sells genuine mikuni carb rebuild kits im sure...he has fast shipping and is good to work with, PM him

4. Dont know about under padding sizes exactly, I think 8mm is what people use for most of the tray but let others chime in before you follow me on this one..

5. Best mods to your ski if it is all stock are an aftermarket exhaust (B pipe) and prop change...also steering swap...my 2 cents on it anyhow.

well here is an update. it took some time i dont think it came out too bad, not finished yet, have to finish the side and the rails but i think its gonna look sick
