Blackjack carbs

Is there anywhere to buy blackjack carbs besides from jetworks.

I know I know send art an email or call him. Already emailed him I just wondered why you never see his carbs for sale on websites like blowsion, riva, wamilton or whatever.

Any one know a ball park price of dual 46 BJ's?

In the "for sale" section... Other than that, Art is the man to talk to. He has his own website so there isn't much point in going through another site that will take away some of his profit. He modifies your current carbs and doesn't have a stockpile of ready to go carbs. I believe the mod for 44mm and below is $170 a carb and $190 for 46+mm carbs.

they use to be in the Hot Products catalog, so any hotproducts dealer can get them, but I dont know why anybody would want to get them from someone other than Jetworks.

Im looking at a set of 46 black jacks on ebay but it says the need an external fuel pump and uses a novi fuel rail. I'm kind of skeptical about it thats why I asked.

I may just buy a set of new after market mikuni 46's then have them black jacked later on.

The thing about buying used carbs: More likely than not, the throttle plates, shims, and possibly shafts are in need of replacement.
Also, you will need the proper jets and springs, and maybe new needle & seats.
The other parts may be good, or not - who knows.
If you have to replace all that stuff, you would have been better off buying new carbs.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I'm kind of afraid to buy used parts anymore because I have been burned to many times. These carbs are going for 479.00... Not a bad deal if you know what your getting or even how they are jetted.

This is true I remember Art telling me about a used set I was looking at. Said the guy wanted to send them to him for a rebuild, when he found how much it cost to make them perfect again he said screw it and decided to sell them. Luckily Art remembered his name and when I brought it up he said was that so and so? So I am glad I went with a set of new BJ's instead of a used set. After all who wants a second hand BJ?

On the fuel pump note its just the stock fuel pumps with each carb having its own pulse fitting. works great.

Art is a really great guy to deal with, he will talk your ear off. BEst to call toward the end of the day when he usually has some more time if you want to ask him questions. I know he can modify oem 44's to BJ's if you don't want to go with the silver mikuni non oem's.

Do you run a big bore and porting?

Would 44's work or would I be better off to go with 46's. I have an after market 44 I would just need another one then I could have those BJ'ed. I'm just trying to avoid changing carbs when I step up to a big bore and porting.

That used set I was looking at was a set of 46's. Art was telling me that the 46's are really for more of a racing set up than a freeride set up. I told art mostly what i do is just play in the surf and he said the 44's work better for instant response. From what I was told the 44's will be perfect for any set up I would run. I currently have a ported 701 and they work great. I told him i was looking to upgrade to a big bore down the road and he said they will work perfectly for that as well.

The great thing was he set the carbs up perfectly. I stuck them on my boat and ripped it and it ran perfectly. Plugs were a perfect color and the jetting was spot on for instant response. He told me they were set up for better bottom end and that if i planned on doing any wide open type stuff i would have to richen it up a little but i would rather have the snappiness the way he set them up.

Call art and discuss your options, you will be better hearing it straight from him then us.

that guy will definitely drop the price, those carbs have been on there forever. i asked him if he would do $399 just to see if he would and he immediately dropped it to what i asked.

that guy (whomever it may be) most likely posts on here...and will probably see this thread but whatever.

With my first big bore motor (stock ignition, mild compression) Art recommended I run dual 44 BJ's. I ended up getting a deal on a set of used 46's, so I ran those instead.
This season, I am running total loss, higher compression (Avgas), and slightly different porting. Now the 46 BJ's I got are supposedly taking better advantage of my setup.
What will work for you? Depends on how far you get into modding the motor.
I'd ask the man directly what he'd recommend.

Ha! I've been there, is all. See above, I got a great deal on used 46 BJ's ($250 for the set) but by the time they were rebuilt to like-new condition, I might as well have bought new carbs. And this was with getting a super deal on them used, so I imagine you might end up quite a bit worse paying regular used prices.

Finally, another important thing to remember: A well-tuned carb of one brand is not going to run all that differently than a well-tuned carb of another brand. There is no magic carb pill, so to speak. If you've got a set of tuned Full Spectrums, you probably won't gain much by going to BlackJacks, or vice versa. Substitute any carb brand you want.
I had Art set me up with the BlackJacks because I was paying him to build me a complete setup. So why stop at the carbs? He knows his equipment and how to make it work for his motors. I didn't have to guess around at the jetting, or cooling setup to accommodate the jetting, or the impeller setup, or the ignition curve, etc. That all works together, and I thought it'd be wise to have ONE guy do all of it.

I planned on buying a set from art or send two in to be blackjacked. I haven't decided when I step up to a big bore wether I'll go with teamscream or jetworks but I want to make sure my carb size is correct for whenever I upgrade.
