Ca. Registration Stickers

I suppose it matters where you ride. Coming back from Havasu at the checkpoint they found a small mussel attached to a weed that was stuck in my intake grate. They wired my SuperJet to my trailer and made me fill out a few forms in the blistering heat. Had to make a phone call to get my ski released from quarentine. It was ridiculous!! Im sure they will check there. I never have been even stopped by a ranger otherwise.

Total registration was only $36. I didnt pay for it on purpose. I just think its an ugly sticker and dont want to put one on my new Backie Chan.

SWEET! Ive been looking for more decals, people look at this as something ugly but i see it as extra stickers. Whoo!! lol

Totally kidding, fee and a gay sticker. CA 2 Me 0

i guarantee the water cops are going to be specifically looking for no sticker. that will be a reason to pull you over, check reg, fire ext, whistle, if you are drunk or high , coast guard approved vest, stickers and numbers in the correct location and anything else they can find to get fines money. if they dont see that sticker, its open season.

I didn't pay for it this year cuz I mostly ride the river. I will still go to the lakes until they kick me out lol

Is the sticker only required for CA lake riding? Are you required to buy the sticker if you ride in Fresh water rivers such as the Colorado river (which divides CA and AZ , if your ski is registered in CA?

if your ski never sees fresh water, it doesnt need the sticker. if you only ride surf, no sticker is needed. just pay the extra money and bitch about it or get caught without it and pay much more. 16 bucks is pretty cheap insurance for 2 years.

Not bitchin just curious. Not really concerned about the cost as much as having to display another ridiculous looking sticker. Wouldn't it have made more sense for a State that's running in the deficit to print HALF as many stickers, some regular for the exempt and some that incorporate both registration and muscle fee proof onto 1 sticker? Typical broke ass CA Liberal Logic. Either way that stickers going on the underside of the handle pole Haha!

Looks dumb for sure but it is alot easier to just follow the rules sometimes. Plus I dont want them to even talk to me if I can help it.

i got a ticket last year for the #s and stickers in the wrong place. the fine was $220.

You did? That's a bummer. I've been warned for that but never cited. I always thought the warnings were because there has been inconsistencies among agencies on sticker placement. In the past, at least here in CA, I've actually been given hand outs showing sticker placement in differing areas by separate law enforcement agencies at different lakes. (One showed placement on the hood while the other showed placement on the front of the hull as the hood is removable) That may have changed within the last few years as this was a while ago.

On the backside of both stickers is a diagram and instructions. Both stickers are always to be to the rear of the numbers. The numbers are always to be on the front half of the vessel. No other restrictions other than size and type of lettering are given.

The most rediculous part in our area is the lakes all have there own mussle inspections and a paper to carry that shows you where cleared. So this sticker doesn't do anything but show you paid the GOV. there money! And you have to pay the lakes for there inspection!

i got a ticket last year for the #s and stickers in the wrong place. the fine was $220. i wasnt saying you were bitching, just a general statement to all

Sounds like you might have told him what you think about him and his stickers. Makes me appreciate the cops at my lake.

Convo from last year:
Cop "where is your fire extinguisher?"
Me " It fell out."
Cop "That sucks! Have a good day"

i was just at miller earlier today on my 1000 freak, same ski i got the ticket on, and here comes the same yolo cop out of the marina. this time i didnt have any #s or reg on the ski at all. i just waved and they kept on going. and i did let him have it when he ticketed me last year. unfortunatly about every few years the the cops get swapped out. just about the time you get on their good side and they are cool, you get a whole new group of by the book dicks.IMG_20130608_150119_207_csl.jpg
