Super Jet crank seal popping out?

as i inspected my engine bay before i took off for the lake i noticed the outer seal on the coupler side popped out. i know hydro locking a motor can do this but i havnt hydro locked it... also the inner seal is still in place and in good shape. hell the outer seal is in good shape, it just popped out!

whats your thoughts on this situation?

...figured it out. i have now learned that the seal with the ridges along the outer edge goes on the outside... Art asked if i hydro locked it and i said no. next question was did you put the right seal on the out side. nope, im a newb. o well, im not gonna let it get me down. next paycheck ill have some new seals and get them changed out the right way.

who knows how long its been this way, i have ran it a lot this year.

You need to run Uncle Toms billet seal keepers as the high differential of hull to pump bearing pressures from lake riding can cause havoc with the seals.
Even had an impeller blow out last week !

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there an outer edge of the seal that rides in the retaining groove machined in the cases which would make it fun to pop back in?

yes, if it is going to be installed correctly!
crack the cases, do it right
If it was a non-OEM seal, that could also cause this problem

cant just pop it back in. the seals need to be switched around. im tearing it down and putting new seals in. when the seal popped out the spring got lost and it got beat up. there is no question as to what caused the outer seal to pop out. one seal is smooth around the outer diameter and the other has ridges. i put the one with ridges in the inner side and the ridges pushed the other seal out. lesson learned. i can tell you it will never happen again!
