44 Blackjacks, brand new B pipe, both set to Arts specs and never adjusted yet. I had a 13/17 Concord but Art had me switch to a 12/17-16? Solas. It smokes Sxrs on top end but even those guys say its not as clean ans snappy as it should be. Also have flow control valve and a couple of water restricters to still put on...
 
getting your water right in the waterbox and the stinger can be a big deal for low end hit,get that flow control valve on there and also make sure your bpipe screws are all shut but the top one open a tad,if you shoot compressed air through it you can listen and get the setting much more precise. put a hooker 10/16 in it first with the water restric setup correctly and get the motor and pipe up to temp,you wana see a tad of steam come off the pipe after a wot run. that motor is worth way more hp than a tl and mag,those are just add ons to make a little more power to a already powerful motor package

I have been starting to think the opposite. like I NEED the TL and mag pump and the 798 is the small add on to those two things
 
no way bud there are guys here runnin sim setups in cc with stock pumps and msd enhansers on stock elecs makin killer power. A 701 or a 760 stocker with a mag and tl wont even be close

try a aftermarket light flywheel and 24 deg static advance on a enhanser with a hooker and the above mentioned pipe settings and youll be smillin

ask him what it is set to and if he is ok with running 24 static. Tl is cool,Im trying it in a surf boat now,we shall see,but I deff dont feel like I "have" to use it, if it gives me any headache ill go back to a rad and enhancer with 24 static in a second

What compression and fuel you running with that timing setup?
 
I always planed on the MSD TL so I still want that. Im just thinking more for a second setup I guess... or if i were to do it over

Was the porting done with you going to total loss? If it was maybe that is what you need. You earlier said you have not adjusted anything does this mean you have not tested an 1/8 of a turn in or out on the low speed screws?
Maybe you need to fine tune. A solas impeller what kind is it? a super camber a concord or an X prop ? What is your pump set up in cone and nozzle diameter. I would double check that you have the correct impeller, cone and nozzle diameter. All it takes is one thing to be miss matched and the whole package is screwed up.

So mag pump and total loss on a stock 701 with b pipe would be beter them my 4mil bigbore with b pipe and enhanser?

no just all the better.prop is key with a mag pump. you cant get away with running a prop thats to big it will load the motor down. where a stock pump you can get away with it.(due to slip).i run my timing in the stock spot. i like to run WOT alot. running 215 psi on pump gas. we have a long ride to get to the waves so its hard to have a 5sec only motor. i run wide open for 2 or 3 miles somtimes.

You've got a very nice motor. TL and mag pump would really make it shine and help you put the power to the water.
Why build a muscle car with street tires?

I just recently went from Jetworks Big Bore with enhancer, stock flywheel, pump gas compression, stock pump to the same motor, but with TL, higher compression, and a properly set up mag pump.
I went with TL and compression first and rode with the stock pump for a while. Then I switched to the mag pump.
It's a night-and-day difference. I would never go without that pump now.
The pump doesn't change the motor. It changes how the motor can put that power into the water.
You trusted that shop this far to build you a motor. Why not listen to them the rest of the way?

It's working very nicely. The one big reason why I went for it was the ability to mount it in the stock ebox.
I just opened up the ebox to redo some bilge pump wiring. Box is bone-dry, not a drop of water on the ignition.
Looking under the hood of my ski, you'd never know I was running anything other than stock electrics. Gotta like the sleeper look. :biggthumpup:

Its a package Art has sold for many years. able to use a oem modified crank, unmodified ada head and i guess the diff between 4 mil and 5+ is where extra work comes in.

The setup was 5k including new b pipe, 44 bjs, 2 piece intake, prop, ada girdled head, all machine work and internal engine componets and assemble and paint. all i gave him was the 701 cly, reed cages, 62t cases, stator and flywheel and whatever hardware i had
