Has anyone glassed this area?

I rally hate having water left in these stupid little areas of my ski after I clean it out and I was thinking of using fiberglass to fill them in and make it smooth so the water goes to the bottom and out through the bilge. Has anyone ever done this before or can anyone think of any reason why it might be a bad idea???

How about the dead space under the motor mounts???

***Also... if anyone has pics of their bond line that has been smoothed could you please post them?????

While it seems like a good idea, those little area's catch alot of fallin bolts, ect... how many tims have you dropped something and it made it under the motor, now its a total MF'er to get it out. If you fill those area's their gonna be little ramps for everything to make it down there

eventually all parts will collect in the corner and then vanish thru the scupper...

I dont see any problem with glassing these areas other than if your flexing the hull it might come off again, underneath mm mounts i think is not neccessary

If it bothers you so much, why not just dry those areas with a rag or paper towels or something? I suppose you could use foam to fill in the areas then a light layer of glass over. For the motor mounts you could use foam.....or just leave them be.

Do you mean a bond line that has been filled in? Look in just about any reinforcement thread with pics and you will see.

Notice no scupper in OP's pic......

I was thinking of filling those spots in on my next hull.
Have the motor mount voids filled in already with what was left over when I did the bond line.

Got any pics of your glass work under the motor mounts?

The water in those areas is pretty easy to soak up but the sand is what really bothers me. It takes for ever to get it all out after a ride.

I don't have a scupper in this ski so I don't have to worry about loosing anything that way. I know its a pain in the ars when stuff goes under the motor, but I can usually just lift the nose and it rolls to the back of the ski.

I need to look into this micro bead stuff...

So can i just use the epoxy with chop in it to fill the bind line?

Thanx for all of your input so far!

I was debating the same thing for my next build. I was thinking expanding foam with a layer of resin on top and possibly underneath to prevent water from getting in.

In regards to the whole bolt catching thing... They work great when a bolt falls near the carbs but when it gets anywhere on the pipe side or underneath the wire bundle/exhaust hose, it's worse than going under the engine.
