I have snapped a couple sets of bars, as well as broken a couple UMI Steering studs. I ride from the waist up so I'm hard on steering setups.

I'm 6'2" 205... Not that hefty.. A fairly fit 205. I imagine my bars were more than likely above my waist line since I was doing a turn sub... I leaned in on the nose and they just gave out. I do ride fairly hard.

exactly same happend to me with x-metal bars, got lucky do damage to wrist , ski or arm or my head.....ever since all skis fatbars...no moe issues

I went through 3 sets of bars before switching to fatbars. Xmetal was great about sending me new bars for free. I weigh 235 and ride aggressively. Mine were all bent on barrel rolls. Wasn't flipping til I had switched setups.

I saw Mark Gomez snap as set on one of the XScream skis at Body Beach the day after the World Finals.

Are the bars heat treated at all or just plain bar stock?

I wonder if the clamp scored the bars and they snapped right on the line. Did you "hold on" or bail lol

I held on.. I was only doing a turn sub.. I leaned in on the nose and they just snapped... I can't ride in a straight line.. Ever... So I'm always trying something wether its just a sub.. Nose stab or failed backflip or roll attempt Lol... Luckily I still held on to the "cool" factor and actually made it user water haha. Came back up holding two pieces to me bars.

To close out the main idea of the thread here are a few more pics and info how xscream has handled it. I spoke with Rick at XScream and showed him a few pictures. Great guy to deal with btw. They will be sending me a brand new set once they receive my broken ones I the mail.

Stuff fails. A moving pole changes the direction of force drastically. The bars get smacked into steering stops 100 times a ride, someties very violently. Not having a bend in them does decrease strength.

If its a real pain in the ass, go get a piece of bar stock from the steel yard for 15 bucks for 20 ft, and make your own length bars, and a bunch of spares. You can get thicker wall, or solid stock if your worried about strength.

Good to see they are taking care of ya, I persoanlly would have liked my new bars first so I could ride, but anything is better than nothing.
