Surfriding How to get start stop wires down the pole , any tricks?

keeps getting stuck at the bottom of the pole before it starts to bend. Spend two hours trying to get it through but no luck. Any tricks. Originally i taped it the existing wires so as I pulled the original ones out the new wires would follow but the tape broke-SUX

I've had good luck using a wire to pull with. Bailing wire works well. Put a U bend on the end of the bailing wire that you will push through the pole. Once you get that through make a large U with both wires. (man this is hard to put into words) Hook the two U's together, close the bailing wire U down on the SS wires. Once this is done use electric tape to tape over and cover the bailing wire and SS wires. It should pull through rock solid and not come apart. PM me if needed and I can get you My # and I'll text you some pics.

Yep use some sort of metal wire that has some stiffness to it so it doesn't bend or bunch up when pushing it through the pole then. Just make take the end wrap it around the ss wire ends and pull slow and steady.

I usually use a long string tied to the old switch wires so when I pull them thru i can tie the string to the new harness. I have used a bendable magnet that i have to help shove it thru. I would try a straightened coat hanger with the sharp cut end covered in tape or ground smooth so you dont mess up the wires and help push the wires thru. Or Tie a fishing weight or small wheel weight to sting long enough to go down the pole, once thats down you can tie the line to the new s/s switch harness and pull thru, something small that has some weight should find its way thru. Maybe electrical tape the wires and connectors together to keep them from grabbing the throttle and steering cable and getting stuck.

Like everyone already said, a coat hanger is your friend. The hot tip is, after you have taped your wires to the coat hanger with elec tape, spray the wires down with WD 40. They will slide through like butter
