So I rebuilt my Mikuni 44SBN. This is the first time I've ever tried to do it.
It went well. Right up until the point where you have to push the new Check Valve grommets through the Pump Diaphragm.
I skewered one of them. The first one popped in without much effort and was a breeze. I thought "Cool, this is easy!". So then when I was putting the second one in... it took a lot more pressure to pop it into place. It never slid in place at all and my screw driver pushed right through it. I'm still kinda wondering if the rubber was slightly over-sized or just harder than the other one.
Yes, I oiled the slots and the tip of the grommet.
I was using a phillips screw driver that really wasn't sharp. It had a flat end on it. It worked fine for the first one, but it destroyed the second grommet.
Ugh. Anyway... lesson learned.
Where can I get the special tool to pop those in place? I have to order another carb rebuild kit too. Unless someone on the X here has some extra grommets they're willing to part with for a reasonable price?
The Carb is the last piece of my ski thats been the bottleneck of keeping me off the water. I'm half-tempted to just buy a new one.
Any insight or tips to rebuilding my carb would be appreciated.
