is this normal?

I was getting ready to paint my cylinder and seen this little hole is it normal? it is where the cylinder and cases connect in the picrure on the right side.

That relief is on both sides used for prying the cylinder loose from the base gasket.

Normal. That's a pry spot for splitting the cases from the cylinder. (I think) There is another on the opposite and diagonal side.

That is the pry point to separate the cyl from the case and is supposed to be there. Bolt it up torque it down and you be ready.
