MRD Fuel Injection

If you pull the seal out, you can measure the ID and OD and buy a seal that way or take it to an auto parts store or bearing/seal store and match it up.

Do you have a pop-off (i.e. relief valve) in the tank? What pressure it is set to?

I see,was hoping someone knew a mcmaster # so i could just order it. No there is no valve in the tank, but there is one on one of the return lines, and it looks like another one just like it on the inlet line just in back of the y split. dont know what the pressure is on the valve on the return but i removed it and it opens in one direction if you blow through it as hard as you can. Do you think the new colored fuel line from fuellinebiz is high pressure enough for this mrd to work

I'm pretty sure the proks are open element air filters. you put tupperware around them to keep water out with an opening pointed toward the engine and small drains at the bottom.

Good luck.

I have the directions for my MRD kit and I is talking about tuning low end. It says do not adjust the linkage more then one turn then it is set from the factory. It says that if you have to open it more you need to get a bigger metering valve. Has anyone every ran into this problem? I am sure that you cant get different size metering valves now a days but just wondering if this could be a problem.
I am going to be trying this out on my 701 with 165psi compression and a B pipe. If it worked out good I would like to transfer it over to the next motor up which would be somewhere around a 5mm stroker. I wasnt sure what the limit was that this system could handle.

When i bought my SN it was a 5mm stroker with 50mm mrd fuel injection on it. It worked awesome! But the low intakes had me scared of water ingestion so i got rid of it

My ski right now has a westcoast head with 165psi and a B pipe. My kit was said to come off a running ski. I looked and the jets that are in it are 35. If this around the right size I should have for my setup? Also if I pull the fuel pump cover off will I be able to tell if the gears are worn out or do the teeth just break when the pumps fail?

the mrd rips arms bro,no other carb out is bigger, just tune with the fuel pump pressure handle,it does 99% on most systems, the pop off return pressure spring does the rest, the jet size seems almost universal for all 62t based systems up to over 800cc. Mine hit like a beast and spun the 1st prop bad on a 5 mill stroker.
Im working on a billet riser system to raise the intakes up,since you dont mind paying 1000 for a tnt pipe ill make you a second one for a G,just kidding, ill let you know how the riser works out,the air water separator group k makes is a good idea also, its rpm dependent, not load like most carbs

anyone got any pics of there group K separator setup? Do you have to have a boost pump to pull the fuel from the tank and then push through the separator and then out to the mrd fuel pump or can you just put it in the line between the mrd pump and the tank?

D-Roc

I forgot!
can you run an air/fuel seperator on a dual carb setup? i find my ski leans out when the tank is almost empty. it runs very strong compared to when the tank is full, i have put off leaning out my carbs because of this, i know i am rich, but it gets lean, i would like it to be consistant so i could further dial in my jetting without fear of going too lean as the tank nears empty.

I know this is an old thread but I am about to try my mrd out on my ski. What are the Proks you are talking about to put tupperware around?

You could by 2 intakes and cut where it bolts up to your cases on one and cut where it bolts up to your carbs and have a macheist weld the 2 pieces together. Have them port matched to your MRD. Now you have a MRD fuel injection that sits up like stock carbs.

I meant "buy" ^^^

Nice!!! So I guess I should chime in here... I have been working on 100 fuel pumps for the Old MRD systems... Should be shortly available after I get the front plates made... In the meantime I repair your old MRD systems!!! I have ALL the replacment parts for your pumps if they need rebuilding. We also have mods that we did back in the day to the units to make them smoother thru the powerband!!! email me robert@jetskimechanic.com

nice bud,I might put mine on another stroker im working on,Ill hit ya up soon, the market would really come back for these if you came up with a risor manifold for them,I was working on one but other things took over in the build

I might have a plate for you? I will have to look but right now I have over 20 years of stuff packed up and I have been moving to the new shop! Once I get the box with the adapter plates I'll see if I have one for you...

I also have our prototype throttle body done but the fuel pumps are first to get done!!! I'll keep you all posted...

Thanks Robert. Good luck with the move. I dread the day I have to pack up our shop & move to a bigger place. When you get settled in let me know.

still trying to figure out the group K air separator setup. I think I was reading in the mrd paper work that you need to remove your vent valve on the fuel tank so pressure does not build and make the mixture rich. If you addes a fuel pump before the air separator to push fuel into that and out the the mrd fuel pump would this also make it run too rich? Has anyone eles every ran a setup like this?
